UMaine Judaic Studies The Facebook home of the Judaic Studies Program at the University of Maine.

Judaic Studies provides a broad liberal arts background that cultivates an appreciation of the central role played by Jewish culture in the development of human civilization. This interdisciplinary program provides students some substantive understanding of the historical, religious, literary, philosophical, sociological, and political experiences of the Jews; and it offers a diverse disciplinary framing of questions central to the Jewish experience with different perspectives and methodologies. The Judaic Studies program at UMaine is entirely funded by philanthropic contributions. Its mission is twofold: to offer academic opportunities in Judaic Studies (currently including a minor and courses in Hebrew language as well as Judaic Studies proper) and to provide public programming that is of interest to the local community and to campus.
