The FAFSA opens October 1st! If you are like most
students, the FAFSA can feel intimidating and you are not totally sure why you should even fill it out! The FAFSA allows you to apply for financial aid from the federal government. You are not committing to anything by filling it out, you are simply seeing what you are eligible for, which could be grants, loans, and/or work-study funding. Guess what happens October 1st? Not just the beginning of autumn.... It's when the FAFSA opens this year! It means you should start thinking about gathering your materials and applying NOW. Though you can apply anytime until it closes next summer, the earlier you apply the more likely you are to get a good award. We will spend the next few weeks addressing the most common misconceptions about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid... so, stay tuned!

This is pretty incredible. Free tuition for families making under $200,000/year.

Wellesley College announced it will begin offering free tuition to students from families earning $200,000 or less per year, starting next year.

This is orientation, welcome week or bridge week on colleges and universities around Maine and the nation. It's an emotional, exciting and stressful time for parents/families and kids going off to college for the first time. Some great advice from Psychology today, below.

College is a transition for both parent and child. A parent’s job is to convey confidence that their child will do well and reassure them that they’re still there.

What a great program at EMCC!

Now in its third year as a partner school, Eastern Maine Community College uses its grant to develop an affordable tool program. Students in EMCC’s skilled trades programs will gain easier access to the equipment required for their training, and they’ll carry those tools with them as they begin their careers.
