Jt. School Dist. 171 Supporting Our Students to Thrive! Our Jt. School Dist. 171 Food Pantry Summer Program offered participating students
and their families, summer meals from June 17 th , 2026 to our last day of distribution on August 5, 2026. Thirty-Six participating families throughout the district visited Orofino Elementary School each Wednesday, receiving healthy and nutritious foods for family
meals. With the upcoming new school year fast approaching, families expressed a need for school supplies. With this in mind, the Jt. School Dist. 171 Summer Food Program decided to include free school supplies in the weekly food bags on Wed.
August 5 th . With much appreciation, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the following benefactors that contributed funds toward the school supplies: Lewis and Clark Credit Union, Orofino Elementary School Parent Organization (PTO) and Orofino
Community Church. Fifty-five students in the local Orofino area received school
supplies through this effort. PTO funds specifically served students at OES in grades kindergarten through 6 th grade. Students living in the Pierce and Weippe areas were given a flyer that shared information about receiving free school supplies in their local
areas from New Life Fellowship in Pierce, Id. It was a wonderful way to end the summer program, while supporting student success for a new school year! Smiles abounded as each student was able to receive a bag of supplies that aligned to their grade level and
interests. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the local volunteers that helped to distribute the food bags each week at Orofino Elementary. Three student volunteers from OJSHS also helped with the effort, offering curb side service to families
as needed. Many local charities and private benefactors made possible the weekly distribution of the food offered each week. The Idaho Food Bank, continues to partner with the district, helping to provide fresh produce and essential food supplies. The Jt. School Dist. 171 Food Pantry Program will transition to our school year program in mid-September. Interested families can fill out applications to access this important resource, at all district schools. Income eligibility is not a factor.
