Dyed a bunch of fabric using an all natural indigo! The process was so fun, but a bit messy at times. When you take the fabric out of the dye bath it is a bluish green color. As the minutes tic by, it turns darker blue. The pattern I used to make this quilt is called “Free Wheeling Single Girl” by Denyse Schmidt. The natural indigo dye kit I purchased from Debbie Maddy (I took her on line class for stitch shibori that is on Creative Spark ). Way fun! Great class and great pattern!

I had the wonderful opportunity to teach for “Cousins Quilt Shop” in Michigan about a month ago. The teaching venue was at the most lovely Charlevoix (MI) library. What a beautiful town Charlevoix is and the library was beautiful!

Hartwig was the host and I thoroughly enjoyed myself with these lovely ladies. Everyone got a block (or two) done and there were several different sizes made. My pattern “Stars for Ester” is a string star that includes five sizes.

The food that Carmen had prepared and served was delicious (those cookies that some one brought in were Devine!)

Thank you ladies for the opportunity that I was given to be up north!

FINALLY! We get to have classes again! I am so excited to introduce this class “Penny Tumbler” that I will be teaching at The Quilt Basket on March 23rd and March 30th. This is a confident beginner and beyond for both piecing and the wool work. Class meets from 10:00-12:30 both days. Sign ups are happening now at the Quilt Basket here in Tucson. I was not able to quilt this, so my friend Sarah Dins is quilting it this week. The pattern is by Gallagher Schmidt of A Different Box of Crayons. Kits are available at The Quilt Basket.

Hello to my quilt is friends! Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville is asking for quilters that want to be a part of this quilt project to bring help to the Ukraine. She has some great ideas and will be posting links to donation sites.

Hey Quiltvillians:⁣

Remember when March 2020 hit and the world stopped? 🌎⁣

And we didn't know what to do to keep ourselves from doom scrolling and feeling helpless? 😪⁣

I presented a mystery for our Unity quilt, while I was sewing just one step ahead of everyone else - because I do crazy things on the fly like that.🤪⁣

I've been working hard and furious with these string hearts in the colors of the Ukrainian flag for nearly a week. I still have several more to go, but I started thinking:🤔⁣

Would you like to make them with me? Would you like to sew along step by step as I post directions for each part on my blog over the course of 4 to 5 weeks?⁣

We would work with one step at a time, you could use your stash for it or swap strips with friends to get enough yellow/blue/neutral. 🇺🇦💙💛💙🇺🇦⁣

Even further - if your guild or group made blocks, and assembled the quilt together, they could raffle it off and donate the money to the Ukraine charity of their choice. 🤗⁣

I need a couple of weeks to get my top together so I can share it with you and you will know what we are doing.✂️⁣

Look for the first part to drop on Friday, March 25th with additional parts to go live each Friday until we are done.📆⁣

Each part will also include a link to a charity benefiting Ukraine that you can donate directly to.😊👍⁣

Even if you don't donate, you can participate in making blocks to become a group quilt to benefit where proceeds are most needed.⁣

My brain is racing - more info to come later. Stay tuned!⁣

Ok…I ended up taking screen shots of the brochure because I lack techie skills. The contact info is on the brochure, the island is beautiful in the spring and the teacher line up is great.

Well, while I am trying to figure out how to get the brochure loaded, here is the schedule. More to come soon!

I have the great honor to be teaching again on Mackinac Island this spring. I will be posting the brochure for this wonderful event “Spring Quilting Art Seminars” in just a moment. This annual event brings quilters from all around the globe and is one of my very favorite places to go! I attended for several years as a student and feel so very blessed to be asked to come and teach here!

The teachers for this spring will be ….
Karen K. Stone
Charlotte Angotti
Janet Nesbitt
Michele Mueller
Nubin Minerd

The dates are April 29- May 4 2022, on Mackinac Island, Michigan.

Brochure will be posted as soon as I can figure out how to get it on here! Computer and social media are definitely not my strong points!

This is my “Covid and Life changes” quilt. It is an older pattern by Karen Stone called “Indian Orange Peel“. I had pulled the fabrics (almost all 1800’s reproduction s) in about 2007. I then took it out in 2014 and took some fabric out and added some into the mix. I think I had sewn all the 4 patches at that time. During Covid I did all the paper piecing and the thistles. I am renaming mine “Desert Thistle”. The thistle is my personal design from a picture I took out at my dads a couple years ago. Now, I need to quilt it!
