The earthquake and tsunami in Japan have devastated the country. To make matters worse, the nuclear disaster at Fukushima has yet to be contained. Our tax dollars should be spent on clean and renewable energy, instead of being wasted on new nuclear plants that would threaten more communities here in the United States. We know that Americans don’t want their money going to dangerous, dirty energy sources; according to a recent poll, 74% of Americans oppose nuclear subsidies. But the nuclear industry won’t go away quietly. Lobbyists are undoubtedly knocking on the doors of every member of Congress trying to convince them nuclear energy is still the way to go.
