Keeping it REal when to PUSH, the 5 MINUTE RULE

I want to be completely real with you for a moment.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the assumptions we make about each other. It’s easy to look at someone else and think they’ve got it all figured out, but the truth is, hard times are real for me too. Even if people don’t always see it from the outside, I struggle just like anyone else.

We have a new addition to our 👶🏻

Erin came to us during her 2nd trimester. She worked out consistently up to her due date. This is her 1st baby. We’re proud of you! Can’t wait to meet Cora 😃

Also: Erin’s a physical therapist. She said she’s implementing what she’s learned regarding 360 core breathing & pelvic floor work with her patients 🙌🏽

While we’re on the topic of pregnancy, let’s give a tip:
When you are pregnant, you are NOT eating for 2 people 😅
Your BMR only goes up by 450 calories per day by the 3rd trimester. That’s one extra meal or around 150 extra calories per meal 👍🏽

Proper nutrition during pregnancy is crucial for healthy fetal growth, baby’s health AFTER they’re born, & the health of the mother during pregnancy & postnatal 🤰🏻

Food is fuel for your performance 🔥

This week we’ve been discussing how food can help your health. Today let’s talk about performance, injury prevention, rehab, & energy:

Wether you want to improve your performance at the gym, during your hobbies, or during ADLs, food is the key to fuel your performance 👍🏽

You can’t outwork poor nutrition. Proper food will give you the energy and nutrients that you need to perform activities. Junk food will hinder your performance like sludge in a car engine 😪

Proper food will also fuel your results. Exercise stimulates your body, but the REcovery is where the REsults come from (strength, hypertrophy, weight loss, etc). 💪🏽 So don’t let that hard work go to waste with junk food 🗑️

Healthy food also help you HEAL. When your body is recovering from injuries or from chronic health issues (such as arthritis), healthy food helps reduce inflammation in your body & helps your body perform better so it can heal more efficiently 🧬

We can go on all day, the bottom line is, if you want to feel well, then you should fuel well ⛽️

Healthy food nourishes our mind & body. This nourishment helps our bodies function properly. This includes our brain processing. We can process information more efficiently which can improve our memory, reduce brain fog, reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s/dementia, & improve our overall intellectual health! 🙌🏽

On the other hand, junk food can rot our brains causing increased risk of the issues mentioned above 😣

Not just exercise: HEALTHY food 🍽️

Just like drugs & alcohol, junk food might make you feel happy temporarily (false sense of happiness), but it slowly poisons your mind & when overused it DESTROYS your mind 👎🏽

Healthy food nourishes your mind & body. When our bodies are happy, our mind is happier. Especially our digestive system. Our digestive system & central nervous system are literally wired to communicate with each other 🧠

When there’s inflammation in our gut from junk food, it sends signals to our brain that we subconsciously interpret as thoughts such as; depression, anxiety, lethargy, etc 😭

On the other hand, healthy food that heals your gut & body send signals to our brain that we interpret as; mental clarity, energy, relaxation, etc 😃

The bottom line is, if you want to feel well, then you should fuel well ⛽️
