Digital Photography students have been busy exploring the LR landscape while learning to confidently use their DSLR cameras. Through their photographs, they are intentionally capturing the elements and principles of visual art in nature, as they develop their skills in observation, framing, and composition.

Welcome Back, Students!

Art students jumped right in, getting familiar with the art room, learning the policies and procedures, and getting to know their classmates through a little creative competition.

From building with marshmallows to unleashing their creativity during Marker Mania, students were busy thinking outside the box, working together, & having fun!

What better way than to spend the last of our time making slime?! Students had a blast combining science and art to create something fun they can enjoy long after the school year ends. That’s a wrap! Have a great summer, everyone! ☀️

As part of the Ranger Rally celebration held at Lake Region on Tuesday, students collaborated to create a beautiful botanical mural in the greenhouse, showcasing their creativity and school spirit.

Students designed and constructed mosaic totem poles to enhance the new outdoor learning space here at LR. They explored mosaic techniques using ceramic and glass tiles, while learning how to apply pattern, rhythm, movement, and color in sculptural design. They discovered how public garden art can transform and enrich outdoor spaces while promoting creativity, teamwork, and environmental awareness.

Two art students created a “Lake Region Ranger” themed birdhouse that will be featured in a contest at the Barton Fairgrounds this summer.

I received a beautifully handcrafted paper rose from one of my senior art students today. 🌹

It’s moments like this that remind me why teaching art matters. Long after projects are turned in and classrooms are cleaned up, what remains are the connections, growth, and creativity that students choose to share.

Congratulations to all my seniors. You’ve put in the work, found your voice, and created so much along the way.

When students get "bored", we photograph "board" games! In this photo project, students learned about composition, perspective, lighting, and visual storytelling while turning ordinary classroom games into creative photographic subjects.

Inspired by the work of Mark Jenkins, 3D Art students created packing tape figures designed to interact with the school environment. These installations have sparked curiosity and conversation throughout the building, and it’s been especially rewarding for students to observe reactions to their work in real time.

Photography students had some fun creating black-and-white portraits with their friends while exploring lighting, contrast, and expression through photography.
