Watering our new garden… and each other. Plus, the top of a swing is a great place to hold shoes!

Mosaic students had an awesome time dissecting squid this week as we wrapped up our unit on evolution and natural selection. Through this hands-on experience, students were able to explore some of the adaptations that help squid survive in their environment. Thanks to Nauset Fish and Lobster Pool for providing the squid!

Therapy dogs Cooper and Pi, with Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Burroughs, were a big part of today's 7th-grade science lesson on artificial selection. Students are learning about how and why humans have selected specific traits in dogs, which has led to the creation of over 400 breeds.

As part of Mass Audubon's diamondback terrapin head-start program, Dobby taught our Grade 7 Mosaic students so much about animal care and conservation. Yesterday, our students were excited to return him to his natural habitat. Thank you to our amazing guide, Bob Prescott, and to Mass Audubon and Orleans Conservation Trust for supporting this incredible opportunity!

Our 8th-grade camping trip to Nickerson State Park was a huge success last weekend. Robotics students, inspired by a family of Eastern Screech Owls near Boland Pond, advocated for an end-of-year camping trip. The trip included swimming, fishing, s'mores, co****le, field games, scary stories around the fire, and delicious campfire food. Thanks to all the staff who volunteered to chaperone this overnight trip.

The Grade 7 field trip to the Artist Dune Shacks in the Province Lands combined plein-air painting, natural science studies, and poetry writing, all inspired by the students' experiences.
