Mother’s Day brought us 2 babies. To share such a special day with a laboring family is the cherry on top for us as Doulas. We had one baby in the wee hours join us earth-side at the hospital (Chelsea got the honor of cutting the cord) and another later in the day born at home and accidentally into Heather and her papa’s hands when the baby came faster than the midwife. Both Doulas got home in time for dinner plans with the family. These babies were families we’ve supported before. We don’t take clients at holidays and events when we want to focus on our family but we get an extra kick out of sharing these special days welcoming new life. Just another reason why having a team of 2 Doulas you know and love is better than having just 1.

Another beautiful hospital birth from another repeat client. Swoon….. Welcome to the world little bear. Funny story. This mama likes to wear sunglasses to keep the room a little extra dark in labor, especially in moments from the lights need to be on. She wore them even through transition, and the nurses assumed she was blind because of it. That made for a fun story but in reality, even in the middle of the night walking even from your home to the car to go to a birth center or into the hospital, there’s a lot of stimuli that can shy away oxytocin. The sunglasses, maybe an earbud with some music or a hypno script can really help keep you in labor land. Also, peep those new birth tools Chelsea’s hubby made for us. We will have them for sale soon.

When scrolling our homework we give our families we a whole page of resources. One of those resources are our favorite local mental health counselors. Well, many of you may recognize this amazing theripist. She joined forces with one of our other favorites and now accepting new clients. If you are a past client and have been looking for her, look no further! She officially comes back in the next few weeks with a full schedule.

That steamy shower glass made for some dreamy photos. Most of which, I can’t show you. Welcome to the world sweet babe! Your mama was a beast and was SO good at listening to her instincts even at the most humbling of moments.

For those of who remember Madeline, my other half in the field for 4 years. She left us a few years ago to follow her dream of being a nurse midwife. First step was nursing school which she conquered. She graduated today and not surprisingly was valedictorian. To say there was a certain Heather ugly crying in the corner (happy sappy tears) is an understatement. We’re SO unbelievably proud of her. Please take a moment to send her well wishes if you know her personally or leave her some love here. Congratulations Madeline. I cannot wait to work side by side you in the delivery room one day.

This mama took her homework/shopping list we gave her very seriously. Who knew you could stock up in birth supplies at Costco!?!?
