🚨 OCPS FAMILY NEED TO KNOW: PROPOSED E-BIKE AND E-SCOOTER RULES 🚨
Orange County Public Schools is considering major changes to when students may bring electric bikes, electric scooters, and similar motorized devices to school.
Here is what families need to know:
🔹 Elementary school: Students would not be allowed to bring e-bikes or e-scooters to school.
🔹 Middle school: Students would also be prohibited from bringing e-bikes or e-scooters onto school property, including at K–8 campuses.
🔹 High school: Only students with a valid driver’s license could bring an eligible e-bike or e-scooter to school. Students would be required to register the device, dismount when entering campus, and park it in an approved location.
High school students would not be allowed to ride in courtyards, on sidewalks, athletic fields, courts, or other pedestrian areas. Modified or prohibited high-speed devices would not be allowed, and students could not charge device batteries at school.
⚠️ These rules are still proposed and are not yet final. The Orange County School Board could vote on the policy on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Families should begin discussing transportation alternatives now and watch for official updates from OCPS and their individual schools.
