Dr. Eleazar Vasquez stepped down as Director of the Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute (TJEEI) at the University of Central Florida, effective January 31. Dr. Vasquez has served with distinction, advancing the Institute’s mission to support exceptional education through innovative research, professional development, and community engagement. Under his leadership, TJEEI secured significant external funding, expanded interdisciplinary collaborations, and pioneered the integration of cutting-edge technologies to enhance education for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Vasquez’s vision and dedication have left an indelible mark on the field, and his contributions will continue to inspire the work of the Institute and beyond.

Dr. Matthew Marino will assume the role of Director on February 7. Dr. Marino brings a wealth of expertise to this leadership position. Known for his innovative approaches and strong collaborative partnerships, he will build on the foundation established by Dr. Vasquez to further TJEEI’s impact on local and national communities. The Institute looks forward to this new chapter under Dr. Marino’s guidance and remains committed to advancing excellence in education, research, and service
