First tournament ever. First title. 🎾🔥 Eight-year-old Maxim Martinasevic won the Boys' 8U division at the Little Mo Regionals in Palm Beach County in his very first competitive event. 🏆

"I wasn't nervous at all. I was actually kind of excited," he said. "I was thinking about all my habits and tactics, and I'm proud of myself that I won." — Maxim Martinasevic, Boys' 8U Champion

Maxim trains in Plantation and has been playing since he was four. His goal? "To become the best in the world." 💪

Florida leads the nation! 🌴🏆 Seven Florida facilities earned 2026 USTA Outstanding Facility Awards, more than any other state in the country. 🎾 All 41 national honorees were celebrated Monday, August 31 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center during the US Open. ✨

Congratulations to Florida's winners:
🥇 Jimmy Evert Tennis Center, Fort Lauderdale, fresh off a $9.5 million renovation that rebuilt all 20 clay courts and added a 700-seat stadium court named for Chris Evert
🥇 Wellington Tennis Center, Wellington, which unveiled six new courts in May
🥇 Doral Park Country Club, Doral
🥇 Midtown Athletic Club, Weston
🥇 The Courts, Cape Coral
🥇 FGCU Tennis Complex, Fort Myers, where a USTA grant resurfaced all 12 courts
🥇 Rollins Tennis & Golf Center, Winter Park, a $10 million facility opened in October 2025

Facilities were judged on layout, court surface and lighting, maintenance, player and spectator accommodations, aesthetics, amenities, and grassroots programming. 💪 Seven of the best in the country are right here in Florida, and that is what investment in courts looks like. 👏

Congratulations to Florida's own Kyle Sims-Francois and Akeem Thompson Jr., named winners of the 2026 USTA Foundation NJTL Essay Contest presented by Deloitte! 🏆🎾

The contest asked one question: what does it mean to be a leader? Nearly 400 students answered with personal stories of stepping up, giving back, and making a difference in their communities. From that group, just eight winners were selected nationwide, and two of them are right here in the Sunshine State. 🔥🌴

Both were celebrated in New York City during US Open Fan Week, joined by Eric Lanham, Director of Operations at Aces in Motion. ✨ Congratulations to Kyle and Akeem, and thank you to Eric and the entire Aces in Motion team, part of the Gainesville Area Community Tennis Association, for the work they do building leaders on and off the court. 💙👏

Seven years in the making. 🎾💙 For the first time in program history, the Vernon High School tennis team has courts to call home. 🙌

A ribbon cutting on August 15 opened six brand new hard courts, funded by a $600,000 state of Florida capital improvements appropriation plus $34,000 from the Washington County School District. For a decade, this team practiced by loading into cars for a 30 minute drive to share two courts in Bonifay, and matches meant at least 45 minutes on the road. 🚗

"We've never had courts. We've always had to travel to play. So this is huge," said head coach Laurie Simmons, entering her 11th season leading both the boys' and girls' teams. "To me, it's really going to help grow the sport within our school system, but it's also going to help grow the sport in the community." — Laurie Simmons, Vernon High School Head Coach

And these courts were built to be shared. Four serve the high school program and two are open to the public at no cost, with a key available at Vernon City Hall. 🔑 Community programming starts in September, and the Youth Tennis Foundation presented a $1,000 check at the ribbon cutting to help grow youth tennis at the new site. 🎉

Last week, we welcomed the Daytona Beach Area Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and Brevard County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated for a clinic that brought together tennis, wellness, and community. ✨

Coach Abdul from the USTA Apprenticeship program led on-court instruction, our "Pour into Her" session opened up a great conversation about wellness and womanhood, and Coach Chaz shared the impact Aces In Motion is making on youth through our NJTL network. 🙌 The Jack and Jill mothers also donated backpacks, school supplies, and a $500 gift to Aces in Motion. 🎒❤️

Thank you to everyone who made this day special! This is what happens when partners come together for the game. 🎾👏

Sectional season is heating up! 🎾🔥 Broward and Hillsborough powered their way to the top at the third weekend of Adult 18 & Over 3.0/4.5 Sectional Championships, and both counties are now headed to the USTA League National Championships this October! 🏆

Here's how the titles played out:
🥇 Women's 3.0: Broward County (Frank Veltri Tennis Center) def. Miami-Dade County 5-0
🥇 Women's 4.5: Hillsborough County (Tampa Tennis Club at HCC) def. Duval County 3-2
🥇 Men's 4.5: Broward County (Weston Hills Country Club) def. Miami-Dade County 5-0

Two titles for Broward and a hard-fought win for Hillsborough. 👏 Huge congrats to every player who battled from the first serve to the final point. Next stop: Nationals! 🎾💙

This past Saturday, USTA Florida teamed up with USTA Coaching to bring entry-level coach training to Crandon Park Tennis Center in the beautiful Key Biscayne, the furthest south USTA Coaching has traveled to date. 🙌

For many participants, this was their very first hands-on, on-court experience in a structured training environment, learning the fundamentals of coaching principles, on-court instruction, and player development. ✨

🗣️ "We are thrilled to bring a training of this nature this far south, and to do it at the historic Crandon Park makes it even more special. There is so much talent and passion for tennis in South Florida, and giving coaches in this community access to quality education is how we grow the game from the ground up." — Lori Burdell, USTA Florida Director of Provider Development & Support

Five more divisions, five more champions! 🎾🏆 The second weekend of Adult 18 & Over Sectional Championship play brought another strong field of USTA League teams together, from tight three-set battles to round robin marathons. 🔥

Broward and Hillsborough each walked away with two titles. Here's how it all played out:

🥇 Women's 2.5: Broward County, defeating Miami-Dade County 2-1
🥇 Women's 3.5: Hillsborough County, defeating Orange County 3-2
🥇 Men's 4.0: Miami-Dade County, sweeping Orange County 5-0
🥇 Women's 5.0: Broward County, finishing 4-0 atop the round robin
🥇 Men's 5.0: Hillsborough County, finishing 3-0 atop the round robin

Every champion now advances to the USTA League National Championships this October!✨
