As our pilot program with High 5, Inc. across 9 afterschool care sites in Hillsborough County Public Schools comes to a close, our founder Kelly Shea had the opportunity to witness something powerful firsthand during Parent Engagement Night.

Students stepped up to pitch their inventions in front of parents, peers, and staff — and what filled the room was nerves, excitement, and pride. 💡👏

But the biggest takeaway the 3rd graders shared: Learning that we can’t get anywhere without first failing.

That’s the power of invention education. It’s not just about creating ideas — it’s about building confidence, resilience, communication skills, and belief in yourself.
