🌟Meet Our Parent Liaison: Nazly!🌟

We are excited to welcome Nazly Sandoval to the Global Family Welcome Center team! Originally from Guatemala, Nazly is passionate about helping families feel welcomed and connected to their child's education.

Nazly enjoys connecting families with resources and helping parents feel confident and engaged in their children's education. She believes that communicating in a family's preferred language builds trust, fosters understanding, and helps families feel comfortable sharing their needs and concerns. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where every family feels valued, understood, and connected. 🌎💙

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, listening to music, and relaxing outdoors. She also loves traditional Guatemalan foods such as tamales, churrasco, atol de elote, caldo de res, and dobladas.

🌟 Meet Our Parent Liaison: Herby! 🌟

Herby has been serving OCPS families for more than four years and is passionate about helping families feel supported, connected, and empowered. He enjoys serving as a bridge between families and the district, helping parents access academic and community resources while creating opportunities for them to engage in their children's education.

One of Herby's most rewarding experiences was supporting a parent and child who were new to English. Through Adult ESOL classes and the school's ESOL program, both made incredible progress throughout the school year. Seeing the mother's confidence grow as she became more comfortable communicating at work—and witnessing the student's academic success—reminded him of the life-changing impact that support and access to resources can have on a family. ❤️

Herby believes that families feel welcomed, understood, and more confident when they can communicate in their home language. By helping families communicate in the language they are most comfortable with, he builds trust, encourages engagement, and helps families stay connected to their schools and community.

When he's not helping families, Herby enjoys reading, fixing things, running, and weightlifting. One of his favorite dishes from Haiti, where he is from, is diri, sòs pwa, ak legim (rice, bean sauce, and vegetable stew)! 🍽️

🌟 Meet Our Parent Liaison: Geane! 🌟

Geane has been serving OCPS families for almost 10 years! She is passionate about supporting the Brazilian community and helping families navigate their new environment with confidence. Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, she serves as a bridge between families and schools, helping close linguistic gaps so families feel welcomed, informed, and empowered.

One of Geane's most memorable experiences began when she met a newly arrived Brazilian family struggling to communicate at a school. She stepped in to help answer their questions, connected them with resources, and even shared information about a local church. Over time, the relationship grew into a lasting friendship, and when the couple later married in the church, they honored Geane and her husband by asking them to be part of their wedding. ❤️

When she's not helping families, Geane enjoys camping in her RV, spending time at the beach, meeting friends, and cooking traditional Brazilian food. Her favorites include pastel de carne, beijinho, and canja de galinha!
