Now, through September 25th, Florida Senator Rick Scott’s office is accepting applications for students interested in attending the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Air Force Academy for the Class of 2031.

Artificial Intelligence continues to reshape higher education and the workforce, and students are paying attention. Recent reports from EAB and Handshake found that many students now believe AI will influence their future career paths, with some already reconsidering majors and long term goals because of emerging technology trends. At the same time, employers are increasingly seeking candidates with AI related skills, while students themselves report wanting a deeper understanding of how AI will impact the workplace.

For our younger students especially, this presents an important opportunity: exploring AI now can demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to engage with rapidly evolving fields beyond simply using ChatGPT in everyday life.

One resource we have been encouraging students to explore is Coursera, which offers a wide range of introductory and advanced AI courses from leading universities and companies. These courses can help students build foundational knowledge, explore potential interests, and begin developing skills that will likely become increasingly valuable across industries. The University of Florida is now offering a binding Early Decision option for Fall 2027 admission, with a deadline of October 15th.

UF announced Thursday it will add Early Decision as an admission application option, providing first-time students with the opportunity to secure their spot in the Gator Nation at an earlier stage of the admissions cycle.
