So, what does being a mentor look like in elementary school?

✨ A mentor is a kind friend who includes others and makes sure no one feels left out.
✨ A mentor helps classmates understand their work by explaining and encouraging them.
✨ A mentor shows patience, even when things are challenging.
✨ A mentor uses positive words and actions to lift others up.
✨ A mentor models respect, responsibility, and good choices every day.
✨ A mentor seeks help/assistance when needed.

🌟 Student of the Month: Critical Thinking & Problem Solving 🌟

This month, we are proud to celebrate our amazing students who demonstrate excellence in critical thinking and problem solving! 🧠✨

In elementary school, this trait looks like:
🔹 Asking thoughtful questions and being curious about the world
🔹 Taking time to think through challenges instead of giving up
🔹 Trying different strategies when something doesn’t work the first time
🔹 Making connections between what they’ve learned and new situations
🔹 Working independently and with others to find creative solutions

Our Student of the Month shows perseverance, creativity, and confidence when faced with challenges. They remind us that mistakes are part of learning and that every problem has a solution when we keep trying! 💡👏

We are so proud of your hard work and determination—keep thinking, exploring, and growing! 🌱💙

SOUPer Bowl Celebration! We're here for it!

Photos from Little River Elementary-OCPS's post 02/06/2026

🥣 It’s the SOUPer Bowl at Little River Elementary! 🏈
Forget the halftime show—the real action today was in the staff lounge! To kick off the big game weekend, our amazing team hosted a SOUPer Bowl potluck, and it’s safe to say we scored big.

From hearty chilis and classic chicken noodle to some secret-recipe favorites, our staff brought their "A-game" (and their appetite). It was the perfect way to warm up, refuel, and enjoy some "huddle time" together.

We’re so lucky to have a team that supports each other both in the classroom and in the kitchen. Now, we’re ready to tackle the rest of the day!

Who are you rooting for this weekend? Tell us your favorite game-day snack in the comments! 👇

✨ Student of the Month Spotlight: Self-Awareness ✨
We are so proud to announce our Students of the Month! This month, we focused on the foundational trait of Self-Awareness. Self-awareness is more than just knowing your name or your favorite color; it’s the "superpower" of understanding your own emotions, strengths, and areas where you’re still growing. When our students practice self-awareness, they are building the toolkit they need for a lifetime of confidence and kindness.

What does Self-Awareness look like in elementary school?
It’s often found in the quiet, thoughtful moments of a school day:

Recognizing Feelings: Being able to say, "I’m feeling frustrated because this math problem is hard," instead of giving up.

Knowing Strengths: Identifying what they are good at—whether it’s being a fast runner, a great listener, or a creative artist.

Understanding Impact: Noticing how their words and actions affect their friends and the classroom environment.

Growth Mindset: Realizing when they need a break or a little extra help to do their best work.

"To know oneself is the beginning of all wisdom." — Aristotle

Please join us in the comments by giving a big round of applause to these incredible students who lead by example every day! 👏 🍎
