Turn On That: New York Mayor Advises Consuming C*nn*bis Freely, Criticizes 'Iron Hand'

Recently, the citizens of New York received a message from their Mayor Eric Adams. The Democratic party member told Big Apple residents that since c*nn*bis is legal, they should feel free to buy, sell and consume joint wherever they want.

Adams also vowed not to take a "heavy-handed" approach toward those who illegally sell m*riju*na in the city. While legal cannabis sales haven't started in New York, the mayor said he doesn't see a need to crack down on sales in the meantime.

“There needs to be a system without a 'heavy hand'; instead, [we have to] go in and explain to that store, 'Listen, you can't do this,' and give them a warning," Adams told reporters at a c*nn*bis industry expo at the Javits Exposition Center in Manhattan.

USA: Sales of Legal C*nn*bis Grew USD 1.68 Billion in a Single Month

Data from BDSA, a market research firm specializing in c*nn*bis, shows that segment sales in 11 US states grew by $1.68 billion in April, New C*nn*bis Ventures reported.

Year-over-year sales decreased in 7 states primarily due to a drop in c*nn*bis concentrate sales, although overall state sales improved 5% from March.

Study: C*nn*bis Is More Effective Against Pain When It Has THC and CBD Together
The goal of this new study is to determine whether c*nn*bis can reduce chronic pain and how the ratio of THC to CBD influences efficacy, said Marian McDonagh, Pharm.D., emeritus professor of medical informatics and clinical epidemiology at the Oregon Health and Science University. McDonagh and her team thoroughly studied previous research.

They proceeded to search through more than 3,000 studies before identifying 25 that met their strict criteria. For example, a duration of at least four weeks, and the inclusion of people with different types of pain. Of the 25 studies, 18 compared c*nn*bis products with placebos.

The analysis they chose ultimately included data from more than 14,000 participants.

What does the data reveal?
Some c*nn*bis products provide mild to moderate pain reduction. However, the ones with a high ratio of THC to CBD were the most likely to help relieve pain.

Participants who used products containing at least 98% THC reported an approximate 30% reduction in pain symptoms. Meanwhile, there was no significant improvement in those who consumed products with lower amounts of THC and higher amounts of CBD. The people who experienced the greatest benefits were those with neuropathic pain.
