Our founder, Tara Zeller, MS, BCBA, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over twenty years experience working as a practitioner of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Her portfolio of roles includes: individual client provider (for children of all ability levels), quality staff trainer, parent trainer, author, conference presenter, career panel pr

esenter and curriculum & instructional designer. Tara created AppleTree Connection after many years of working for a number of companies. They were just not providing the kind of services she wished to provide. The feeling of wanting to make a greater impact kept gnawing at her. So, she followed her passion and struck out on her own. Tara utilizes her knowledge and skills from the science of Behavior Analysis to help grow the field through mentoring and training of current and future practitioners. Her motto is, “Work with 1 client, help 1 client. Train practitioners, exponentially increase the number of clients helped!”

Sometimes, the hardest part of starting a new career isn’t learning something new.

It’s believing that you’re capable of becoming something new.

We’ve had the privilege of watching our students begin their Registered Behavior Technician® journey with questions, doubts, and plenty of unknowns.
Then something starts to change.

They learn the material.
They ask questions.
They practice.
They gain confidence.

And little by little, the person who once wondered, “Can I really do this?” starts saying, “I’m ready.”

Think of it this way: something is removed after a behavior, which makes that behavior more likely to happen again.

One certification can open doors to a career you may not have considered before.

An RBT® certification can give you a starting point in behavior analysis and the opportunity to work alongside professionals supporting individuals with autism and other developmental needs.

The BACB recognizes RBT® certification as a paraprofessional credential in behavior analysis.

To become certified, candidates must meet eligibility requirements, complete the required 40-hour training, complete an initial competency assessment, apply, and pass the RBT® exam.

3. What happened right after?

This simple approach can help you understand behavior instead of jumping to conclusions.

Every career starts with a single step. What comes next is shaped by the choices you make.

One of our Career Pathway Program graduates recently shared that they received more than 10 employment offers and are now working as a Registered Behavior Technician ® (RBT®) with two Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) organizations.

What inspires us most isn't the number of opportunities.

It's their commitment to keep learning, keep growing, and continue investing in their future.

They're now a member of HABA and ABAI and are looking forward to attending future ABA conferences to expand their knowledge and connect with others in the field.

Stories like this remind us that meaningful careers aren't built overnight. They're built through consistent learning, perseverance, and the willingness to take the next step.
