🏃‍♂️ MONDAY RUN!

I’m sure I’m not the only person who “sometimes” has a rough Monday. 😂

Some Mondays you wake up ready to take on the week. Other Mondays… it takes a little more effort just to get yourself moving.

For me, one thing that helps is getting outside and putting in some time for myself.

Today was one of those days where I had to get out of my own way and just give in to what I already knew I needed.

A run.

Not because I had to.
Not because I was trying to prove anything.
But because I know how much better I feel when I take a little time to take care of myself.

And once I got moving, Monday started feeling less like a blocker and more like a side thought.

That’s something I see in martial arts too.

Sometimes the hardest part of training isn’t the workout—it’s getting yourself through the door. Once you’re there, you start moving, focusing, breathing, and suddenly that thing that felt so difficult doesn’t seem quite as big anymore.

So here’s my Monday reminder:

Pick yourself first.

Take a little time to move.
Take a breath.
Clear your head.
Do something that makes you feel better.

Then see how much further you can get with everything else.

🥊 Train your body. Clear your mind. Take care of yourself.

🏃‍♂️🌅 SATURDAY MORNING RUN — ONE OF MY FAVORITES

Saturday morning runs have become one of my favorite runs of the week.

Why?

There’s nowhere I have to be afterward. 😂

I can take my time, get outside, run at my own pace, and enjoy the morning without feeling like I’m racing the clock.

Then I get to come home, make breakfast for the family, and spend time with my true motivation. ❤️

That’s probably one of the biggest things I’ve learned since I started running again.

It’s not always about the miles.

Sometimes it’s about creating a little time for yourself so you can come back feeling better, more focused, and more present for the people who matter most.

Running has become part of my routine in much the same way martial arts has.

🏃‍♂️ Running challenges my endurance and clears my head.
🥊 Martial arts challenges my body and keeps me focused.
❤️ Family reminds me why I keep doing both.

Different kinds of motivation—but they all help me keep moving forward.

And honestly, there’s no better way to finish a Saturday morning run than coming home sweaty, hungry, and ready to make breakfast. 😂

🥊🏃‍♂️ NOT EVERY DAY IS EASY.

Not every run feels good.
Not every workout feels strong.
Not every martial arts class feels like your best class.

And that’s okay.

Some days you wake up motivated and ready to go. Other days, getting out of bed is the hardest part of the workout.

I’ve been learning that consistency doesn’t mean having a great day every day. It means continuing to show up—even when the day isn’t going the way you planned.

Running has taught me to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Martial arts has taught me to stay focused, adjust, and keep working through the difficult rounds.

Life is going to have difficult days too.

You don’t have to conquer everything at once.

Sometimes the goal is simply:

Show up. Take a breath. Do what you can. Keep moving.

Tomorrow is another opportunity to try again.

🥊 Train your body. Train your mind. Keep moving forward.

🏃‍♂️ WEDNESDAY RUN — HUMP DAY! 💪

Wednesday is here, which means we’re officially over the hump! And what better way to get through the middle of the week than by getting a run in?

Wednesday run: IN! ✅

Some days getting started is easy. Other days, you have to convince yourself to get out the door. But once you’re moving, you remember why you started.

That’s one of the things I’ve been learning through running—and it’s the same lesson I’ve learned through martial arts:

You don’t always need motivation. Sometimes you just need to start.

A run builds endurance. Martial arts builds endurance, focus, discipline, coordination, and confidence. Both challenge you to keep going when things get uncomfortable.

And there’s something satisfying about getting your workout done in the middle of the week and knowing:

I still have the rest of the week to keep moving forward. 👊

🏃‍♂️ CONSISTENCY IS TOUGH. BUT SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED A LITTLE MOTIVATION.

Unlike yesterday morning, I could not get myself out of bed for my run. 😴

I got up, got the kids ready, and started getting ready to take them to school. While I was getting ready, I realized I actually had just enough time to squeeze in a run afterward.

Then I noticed something else…

I could run somewhere different.

That got me interested. 👀

So after school drop-off, I headed over to Lake Eola and got my run in.

Two miles. 🏃‍♂️

And not only did I get the run done, I ran it at a faster pace than I have since I reintroduced myself to running.

I was STOKED afterward!

And it got me thinking:

“If I didn’t get myself motivated, I would have missed this experience.”

That’s the funny thing about consistency.

Some days you’re excited to train.
Some days you have to drag yourself out of bed.
Some days you question why you’re doing it at all.

But you never know what you’re going to discover if you just get started.

This is something martial arts has taught me over and over again.

You don’t have to feel motivated every day.

Sometimes you just have to show up.

Once you start moving, your mindset can change.

Today, it changed mine.

Two miles around Lake Eola, a faster pace, and a pretty good reminder that the hardest part is often just getting started.

🥊 Martial arts.
🏃‍♂️ Running.
💪 Fitness.
🧠 Life.

Consistency is tough. But so is wondering what you might have missed if you didn’t try.

🏃‍♂️🌅 EARLY MORNING RUN — IN!

Waking up early to run is definitely not for everyone. 😂

There’s always that moment when the alarm goes off and your brain starts negotiating:

“We could just stay in bed…”
“You can run later…”
“It’s really comfortable right here…” 😴

But once I finally get up, get dressed, and get outside, I almost always have the same thought:

“Why did I wait so long?”

There’s something about starting the day with a run that changes the way I approach everything that comes afterward.

And honestly, it’s not that different from martial arts or work.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the training.
Sometimes it isn’t the work.
Sometimes it isn’t the run.

Sometimes the hardest part is simply getting started.

Once you take that first step, momentum takes over.

Running teaches me to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Martial arts teaches me to stay focused when things get difficult. Work teaches me to show up and get the job done.

Different challenges. Same lesson:

Stop waiting for motivation. Get started.

You might be surprised how good you feel once you’ve done it.

Early morning run? ✅
Day started? Absolutely. 🔥

Now let’s see what the rest of the day brings.

🥊 Train your body. Train your mind. Show up.

🏃‍♂️🥊 I DIDN’T RUN YESTERDAY… AND I FELT IT.

Yesterday I decided not to go for my run.

Nothing dramatic happened. I just skipped it.

But throughout the day, I had this strange feeling that something was missing.

It made me realize how much running has become part of my routine—and how much I’ve come to appreciate what it does for my mind as well as my body.

Martial arts has always given me that same feeling.

There’s something about stepping onto the mat, getting moving, focusing on your breathing and technique, and leaving everything else outside for a while.

Running does something similar.

🏃‍♂️ Running gives me space to think.
🥊 Martial arts gives me something to focus on.
🧠 Both remind me to keep moving forward.

I used to hate running. Now I’m at the point where missing a run actually feels like I missed something.

So today, I got back to it.

And when I finished, I felt different.

I felt ready for the day. 💪

Clearer head. More energy. A sense that I had already accomplished something before the day really even got started.

I guess that’s progress.

Sometimes a habit starts because you make yourself do it. Eventually, you keep doing it because you realize how much better you feel when you do.

And that’s one of the lessons martial arts has taught me too:

Show up. Do the work. Take care of yourself. Keep moving forward.

🏃‍♂️ One run.
🥊 One class.
🧠 One day at a time.

🥋 CLASS TONIGHT WAS AWESOME!

There’s something special about finishing a good martial arts class completely exhausted, sweaty, and feeling like you gave everything you had.

But sometimes, the most important part of training happens after class.

Taking a few minutes to slow down, stretch, breathe, and have a moment of mindfulness can be just as valuable as the training itself.

After pushing your body, give your mind a chance to catch up.

🧘‍♂️ Slow down.
💨 Control your breathing.
🤸‍♂️ Stretch.
🧠 Be present.
🙏 Appreciate the work you just put in.

Martial arts isn’t only about learning techniques or getting stronger. It’s also about learning how to listen to your body, control your breathing, focus your mind, and recover.

Sometimes the best way to finish a hard class isn’t by immediately rushing out the door.

It’s by taking a few quiet minutes to appreciate the work you just accomplished.

Train hard. Recover well. Clear your mind.

That’s part of the Focus MMA journey. 🥊
