Meet Dr. Mike Borowczak, associate professor in the UCF Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of the Design of Resilient Architectures for Computing (DRACO) Lab.

His research explores how systems, AI, and emerging technologies can be exploited so we can better understand vulnerabilities and build more secure, resilient technology.

“By understanding how an adversary thinks, we can build stronger defenses and create systems that are much harder to exploit.”

Through research, industry partnerships, and hands-on opportunities for students, Dr. Borowczak is helping prepare the next generation of cybersecurity professionals to tackle tomorrow’s challenges.

Congratulations to IST Research Faculty - Professor Ivan Garibay and Pegasus Professor Jayanta Kapat - on their induction into the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida! 🎉

Dr. Garibay leads the Complex Adaptive Systems Laboratory, where his research focuses on modeling and simulation of complex socio-technical and economic systems. Dr. Kapat directs the Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research (CATER), bringing together multidisciplinary research to address complex challenges in turbomachinery, power generation, aviation, and space propulsion.

Meet Dr. Shawn Burke, research professor and director of the Team Research and Adaptability in Complex Environments (TRACE) Lab at the UCF Institute for Simulation & Training.
