Valencia Dance

This week the beautiful Jeanne Travers visited us from the University of South Florida to set a gorgeous modern piece!! We are so unbelievably excited to share this piece with you all. We hope to see you at our Summer Repertory Concert July 11th and 12th!!

The A.A. in Dance Performance audition will consist of a technique class: ballet barre and center, modern combination and jazz combination. Individual choreography or a solo is not required. Participants are encouraged to wear black leotards and pink or flesh colored tights for the women and white shirt and black tights for the men. Please bring all dance shoes.

Applications are due in just over a week! We can’t wait to see you there. :)

This week things got 🔥¡CALIENTE!🔥 with our very talented Valencia Dance President, Ariaghna! Such a fun piece she put together for us and we can’t wait to add in our incoming VSDI members 👯‍♀️. Last but certainly not least, we have Ariaghna Parrilla Rey!! When she was little, Ari asked her parents to enroll her in dance & she has been involved ever since. Her journey has taken her from the Howard Middle School Dance Program to the Dr. Phillip’s High School Dance Magnet to now getting to be a dance major at Valencia College! As well as being president she is also a member of Valencia’s dance company, Valencia Dance Theater.

- She loves choreographing! she currently has a notes app w/ 219 unused choreography ideas (& she’s still adding to it)
- She gets aggressive hiccups EVERYDAY, but never while dancing
- Ariaghna was also president of her high school dance program!

Next up we have Dante Lewis Fernandez! Dante started dancing four years ago and is now currently completing his Associates in Arts, Dance Performance Degree Major Pathway. Dante’s plan after Valencia is to attend the Jacksonville University Dance Program.

Fun facts about Dante:
- Was wheelchair bound for a year after being hit by a car
- Favorite muppet is Rowlf the dog
- He had a split dye during quarantine

Next up we have Judah Hanson! Judah started dancing at age 11 and now is currently completing her Associates in Arts, Dance Performance Degree Major Pathway. Judah’s plan after Valencia will be to start working on her own dance career and hopes to move to Los Angeles, California to perform as a professional!

- She loves y2k fashion
- Big night owl
- Really enjoys Asian snack boxes

Next we have Ruby Borges! Ruby has been dancing since she was 4 years old and is currently pursuing her Associates in Arts, Dance Performance Degree Major Pathway. After Valencia, she plans to further her education in Dance Performance at a four year university, as well as minor in physical therapy.

Fun facts about Ruby:
- She moved to the U.S. from Puerto Rico when she was 9 years old
- She plays the guitar
- Her favorite color is purple

First up we have Valeria Ysabel! Valeria first fell in love with dancing when she was 4 years old. After dancing competitively for 11 years, she continues to pursue her passion by working on her Associates in Arts, Dance Performance Degree Major Pathway. Val’s plan after Valencia is to transfer to a four year university, where she will pursue a double major. Continuing her education in Dance Performance and also getting a degree in Business.

Fun facts about Valeria:
- She loves Hello Kitty
- Sour>>Sweet
- Her favorite artists are Frank Ocean, Kaytranada, The Internet, and PinkPanthress
