Update from BMC’s pilgrims in Rome!
The day began with Mass at Santa Prassede, followed by visits to St. Mary Major, where they saw the crib of Jesus and the tomb of Pope Francis, and St. John Lateran, the Cathedral of Rome and the Pope’s parish church.

They shared that One of the most profound moments was ascending the Holy Stairs, believed to be the steps Jesus climbed before His trial before Pontius Pilate. They also explored the Catacombs of St. Callistus, where students encountered the symbols and history of the early Church they study in theology class.

After dinner overlooking St. Paul Outside the Walls (and, of course, gelato!), students gathered for reflection. Many shared how deeply they were moved by the beauty of the basilicas, the experience of the Holy Stairs, and the faith and friendship growing within our group.

On the second day of summer school, our students gathered for a special Teaching Mass that brought the beauty and meaning of the Eucharist to life. Throughout the Mass, Sister Kristi, JP Kuhlman, and Father Robert Marquez paused to explain the significance of each part of the liturgy and the truths of our Catholic faith in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. This catechesis was presented in relatable, meaningful terms, helping our students deepen their understanding of and appreciation for the sacred mystery of the Mass.

Our pilgrims made it to Rome and celebrated Mass at the church connected to the convent of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Tomorrow, papal audience and tour of the Vatican museums! Buona Notte.

Summer School Begins Today!

After just one day of vacation, our students are back on campus for summer school, with many enrolled in HOPE or Business and Personal Finance.

The day opened with a warm welcome and prayer. Students then joined Director of Mission Effectiveness, JP Kuhlman, for a campus scavenger hunt exploring our Catholic symbols, statuary, and sacred spaces, beginning with the cross.

Mr. Kuhlman reminded students that these sacred spaces invite us to encounter Jesus and serve as reminders of His love for us.

Today, we remember and pray for the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. May we honor their sacrifice with gratitude, faith, and a renewed commitment to serve others with courage and compassion.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. 🇺🇸✝️

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 salutatorian, Mitchell Newsome, and valedictorian, Aidan Akkara!

Mitchell reflected on the memories, people, and moments that shaped the Class of 2026, reminding his classmates that their Bishop Moore Catholic experience will always be part of who they are. As they move forward, he encouraged them to “remember these people who love you, who are here for you,” and to trust that God has given them purpose for the path ahead.

Aidan spoke about the power of encouragement and the way the belief of family, friends, and teachers can help make the unimaginable feel possible. He reminded his classmates that while others can prepare, support, and cheer them on, they must also learn to believe in themselves, carrying forward both the encouragement they have received and the confidence to keep growing.

We are proud to celebrate Mitchell and Aidan for their accomplishments, their leadership, and the example they have set for the Class of 2026!

Congratulations to our 2026 St. Joseph Award winners, Gabriella Polanco and Nicholas Scheidhauer!

Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, Bishop Moore Catholic continues to honor that legacy through the St. Joseph Award, recognizing seniors who reflect on how their time at BMC has impacted and strengthened their faith.

Gabriella reflected on how her Catholic education helped transform her faith from routine into a purposeful relationship with Christ. Through theology class, mission work, and daily prayer, she shared that she has learned “to live seeking God in the simple things” and to recognize that “everything is made as a reflection of the love of God.”

Nicholas spoke about the quiet ways Bishop Moore Catholic became a home for him, from the teachers, coaches, teammates, and classmates who modeled faith through small acts of kindness. Reflecting on the words seen each day on campus, “Preach the gospel at all times and sometimes use words,” Nicholas reminded us that our faith is not something we leave behind, but something we are called to live courageously each day.

We are proud to celebrate Gabriella and Nicholas for the way they reflect the spirit of St. Joseph.
