We are so proud to celebrate this amazing group of students! Each month, we will highlight a different Resiliency Trait. During the month of August, we focused on Citizenship. These scholars were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding citizenship and for making a positive difference in our school community.

We are turning Southwood Elementary Pink tomorrow! We look forward to seeing our Cubs in pink to support this OCPS initiative in honor of Dolly Parton!

💕 This Friday: Pink & Pages for Dolly 📖

Like so many around the world, we’re heartbroken by the loss of Dolly Parton — a music icon who also helped generations of children discover a love of reading.

Dolly understood what we see in our classrooms every day: reading can open doors, spark imaginations and change lives. That’s why this Friday, Aug. 28, we’re turning OCPS PINK in her honor!

Students, teachers, staff, families and our community are invited to wear pink and spend at least 10 minutes reading.

Through her Imagination Library, Dolly helped put more than 300 million books into the hands of children around the world, including right here in Orange County.

So grab something pink, pick up a book and turn a few pages for Dolly. And be sure to DM us your Pink & Pages pics tomorrow!

Mrs. Hill’s class has been hard at work exploring rocks and discovering what makes each one unique. They’ve also started to investigating the three states of matter to compare how solids, liquids, and gases look and behave as they learn through hands-on activities and observations. Way to go, Scientists Cubs!
