Lithium is a naturally occurring mineral found in foods at concentrations dependent upon the mineral content of the soil. It is also an essential element that people need – in small amounts. High amounts of lithium are toxic.[PMC5696506]

We get roughly 3 -4 mg of lithium per day naturally in our food and water, although this varies depending on where you live and where your food was grown. Lithium orotate is a natural mineral supplement (a salt form of lithium plus orotic acid). It comes in doses ranging from 5 to 10 mg of elemental lithium.

Researchers have looked at areas that have higher levels of lithium in the water and compared them to areas with low lithium levels.

Several studies show that areas with higher lithium levels in their drinking water have lower levels of depression and decreased aggression.

A meta-analysis of studies on lithium in water showed that su***de rates were >50% lower in areas with higher lithium in the drinking water.[PMID: 24072668]

Another study found that homicide rates were lower in areas with higher levels of lithium in the water supply.[PMID: 25556933]

In addition to epidemiological studies showing that lithium in drinking water reduces su***de rates, research on prescription lithium chloride also indicates that it reduces su***de attempts, independent of its effect on mood in bipolar disorder.[PMID: 27852967]

Lithium is thought to act in multiple ways to affect mood:
- alters GSK3B expression, impacting circadian rhythm
- reduces neuroinflammation
- increases BDNF
- interacts with vitamin B12 and folate

1.) Lithium orotate: Impact on circadian rhythm and sleep
One way that lithium interacts with mood is by inhibiting GSK3B (glycogen synthase kinase 3beta). GSK3B acts on many different pathways in the body, including circadian rhythm and neuronal plasticity.[PMID: 28095742]

Dysregulation of GSK3B is linked to bipolar disorder, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease.[PMC3055312]

Lithium competes with magnesium in binding with GSK3B and inhibiting GSK3B. Through its impact on GSK3B, researchers think lithium can modulate the activity of many different pathways, including circadian rhythm. Additionally, lithium may take the place of magnesium in other proteins that need magnesium.[PMC5696506]

🚨 A major new scientific review has for the first time linked routine childhood vaccines containing mammalian gelatin to the explosive rise of Alpha-Gal Syndrome, a potentially life-threatening meat allergy surging at an unprecedented rate.

Alpha-Gal Syndrome triggers reactions to beef, pork, lamb, dairy, gelatin, and other mammalian products, with symptoms ranging from hives and severe stomach distress to anaphylaxis that often appears hours after eating.

Among adults tested for alpha-gal antibodies, positive results have increased roughly 100-fold between 2013 and 2024, while a 2026 CDC study found these antibodies in 24% of adults across five high-burden states.

Tick bites have long been viewed as the primary trigger, yet tens of millions of Americans are bitten each year and only a minority develop the clinical allergy.

The amount of alpha-gal actually delivered by a feeding tick has never been measured.

Researchers from the McCullough Foundation reviewed more than 100 references and highlighted a widespread, overlooked exposure: more than 90% of U.S. children receive alpha-gal-bearing mammalian gelatin through routine vaccination before school entry.

Completing the two-dose MMR and varicella schedules alone delivers approximately 54 mg of mammalian gelatin by injection.

Eating mammalian products normally trains the gut to tolerate alpha-gal, but injection bypasses that pathway and introduces the material directly into immune compartments capable of promoting sensitization.

The review outlines two non-exclusive mechanisms.

Repeated injection of alpha-gal-bearing material could directly drive alpha-gal-specific IgE sensitization in susceptible individuals.

Vaccination could also prime the immune system by expanding or redirecting the existing alpha-gal-specific immune-memory pool, so that a later tick bite boosts the response to clinically significant levels and helps explain why only some tick-bitten people develop the allergy.

Evidence from Japan shows that children given gelatin-containing, aluminum-adjuvanted DTaP vaccines developed anti-gelatin IgE and severe allergic reactions to later gelatin-containing vaccines.

Among 44 children with life-threatening vaccine anaphylaxis, 41 carried anti-gelatin IgE, and none of the affected children had received gelatin-free DTaP.

After gelatin was removed from the formulations, anaphylaxis reports declined sharply.

The IgE reacted with gelatin from cows, mice, and kangaroos but largely not fish, matching the species distribution of alpha-gal, which has been detected in bovine gelatin but not fish gelatin.

Animal experiments reinforce the biology: alpha-gal-deficient mice injected with an alpha-gal-bearing protein plus vaccine-grade aluminum adjuvant developed specific IgE and anaphylaxis.

Despite these findings, no study has prospectively measured alpha-gal-specific antibodies before and after gelatin-containing vaccination.

With cases rising so dramatically and more than 90% of children already receiving injected alpha-gal-bearing material, the review identifies vaccine-derived alpha-gal as a serious and urgently testable risk factor.

It calls for antibody measurements before and after vaccination, quantification of alpha-gal in vaccine lots and tick saliva, and comparisons of vaccinated versus vaccine-naive individuals under equivalent tick exposure.

Alpha-Gal Syndrome has been recognized for 18 years, yet only now has a comprehensive paper examined whether alpha-gal-containing vaccines could be contributing to its rapid expansion.

Every day of delay leaves millions more children injected with a substance that may be priming them for a lifelong, potentially fatal allergy to meat.

The evidence is too alarming to ignore.

The studies must begin now.
