William R. Boone High School Foundation

Today, we remember the 33 Boone Braves who gave their lives during the Vietnam War.

Their names live on in the Boone Braves Memorial Garden, a space rededicated in 2019 when the memorial was thoughtfully moved from its original location in front of the auditorium. While the setting changed, the purpose did not, to ensure their legacy is honored, remembered, and carried forward.

These were Boone students. Classmates. Teammates. Neighbors.
Young men whose lives were forever connected to this school and this community.

At Boone, legacy is not just something we talk about, it is something we live. And today, we pause to reflect on the weight of that legacy and the responsibility we all share in remembering it.

We honor their service.
We remember their sacrifice.
And we commit to never letting their names be forgotten.

We are proud to introduce the Jenn Hilley “Finding Your Voice” Scholarship, created in honor of Mrs. Hilley’s decades of dedication to Boone High School and her many years of service to the William R. Boone High School Foundation.

Mrs. Hilley does far more than teach English. She helps students find their voice, creating space for expression, confidence, and growth when it matters most. Beyond the classroom, she is a steady advocate for students through her work with the Foundation, always ensuring those who need support most are seen and valued.

This scholarship will be awarded annually to a Boone senior who demonstrates growth, resilience, and the courage to express themselves authentically, in learning, writing, leadership, or life. It reflects Mrs. Hilley’s belief that every student has a voice worth hearing.

The Jenn Hilley “Finding Your Voice” Scholarship joins the family of scholarships awarded each year by the Foundation, including the Hugh Hattabaugh Principal’s Leadership Award, the Class of 1963 Make a Difference Award, the Brett Creel Memorial Scholarship, and four Forever Brave Scholarships.
