đź’° Child Tax Credit is $2,200 per child, refundable at $1,700 per child.
The taxpayer also needs a work valid SSN.

🎓 Education Credits Education credits now require:
• The taxpayer’s SSN
• The student’s SSN issued by the due date
• The school’s EIN

⚠️ An ITIN no longer works for these requirements.

👨‍👩‍👧 Other Dependent Credit The ODC is now permanent at $500.

🚨 SECTION 6694: TWO TIERS OF PENALTIES

Tax preparers need to know which tier they’re standing in.

⚠️ TIER 1: UNREASONABLE POSITION

Penalty: The greater of $1,000 or 50% of what you were paid for the return.

🚨 TIER 2: WILLFUL OR RECKLESS CONDUCT

Penalty: The greater of $5,000 or 75% of the fee.

And here’s the part you need to understand:

Tier 2 isn’t reserved for fraud rings.

It covers reckless or intentional disregard of rules and regulations.

Deliberate isn’t required. Reckless does it.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

Tier 1 has a reasonable cause and good faith waiver.

Tier 2? That’s a different conversation.
