When Jesus says you are “the light of the world,” he didn't say you can “become” a light in the world through religion, choice, or personal performance. He didn't say you are “one of many” lights in the world. No, he said, “you are” the light of the world to a whole crowd of “as is,” basic, ordinary people who hadn't even “invited Jesus into their hearts.”

When Jesus says he is the light of the world, he is not overshadowing nor diminishing our light. Instead, he is showing that his Light and our Light are one and the same. He is All and in all. We are a walking Trinity in skin.

We only “hide” our light when we are unaware, minimize, or refuse to embrace it. Self improvement, “be your best self,” and spiritual striving cover over and eclipse our light. For we are already light, no improvement necessary; only awakening, belief, and resting in our light releases it. We don't “work” at being light, light “works” as us and through us when we realize we are light first.

Jesus shows that the enemy to our true selves is any and all that is religious. Self-righteousness, sin-management, and performance-driven spirituality are the authors of darkness. In this way, so much of Christianity and Christian living is a black hole to all that is good.

To be the light of the world is to unwrap from the burial clothes of so much of Christianity and take up your Light and follow Light.

For you ARE the light of the world.

Grace is brave. Be brave.

a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...
One friend who always makes her laugh...

A good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...
Eight matching plates,
wine glasses with stems,
And a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored...
A feeling of control over her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
How to fall in love without losing herself..
HOW TO QUIT A JOB,
BREAK UP WITH A LOVER,
AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT
RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP...
When to try harder...
And WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
That she can't change the length of her calves,
The width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
That her childhood may not have been perfect...
But it's over...

How to live alone...

Whom she can trust,
Whom she can't,

Partner, wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, mother, father, employer.... The title doesn't matter. The only person responsible for abuse is the abuser.

An important question is, "Why you keep it going by staying in the relationship?" You are only deluding yourself with thinking you have the power to control an abuser or a narcissist.

Worth thinking about! People DO define others by what they read on social media. If you post it on social media, it's not your private life anymore. It's accessible to anyone.... Including perspective employers and clients.

I recently attended a wedding where the bride paid for 15 people who failed to show. No one was sick, nothing catastrophic. Just "a change of plans, I totally forgot, something else came up." Do you ever stop to think how much is guaranteed to venues, caterers, bartenders etc based on head count? These 15, who didn't show up, cost the bride in excess of $2,000.

I see this all the time when an event is posted online. People stating they're going to come, and then don't. I also watch event planners and individuals trying to get an accurate headcount because people just don't respond to RSVPs.

If I receive an invitation, shouldn't I take it as seriously as the host did when I was put on the invitation list.

If you are invited, you matter! Be courteous, considerate and don't leave your host having to do the work or cover necessary expenses.

We all have the same 10 areas of our lives. Each of those areas have various needs and values. The more common the needs and values the more compatible the relationship. There are some relationships that are compatible in different ways...friends, family, coworkers, former spouses and partners. That compatibility may not last a lifetime, however, the love for the other person can continue. We don't unlove or unlearn anything. We can forget...or we let other emotions cover up the love we have for someone.

Individuals can truly decide to continue loving each other. When there's family and children involved, no matter their age, holding on to anger, resentments, bitterness and hurt only serves to create toxicity and further damage. It takes work to love and to let go ❤️

One thing I realized is that you don’t always have to be strong.

Sometimes you need to scream, CUSS Throw stuff, or have a really good cry. But you always, always, always, need To pull yourself back together. Everything always ends up working out. Sometimes even better than you originally imagined.

Remember this when you feel like you’re in a hard place or you feel like you’re being challenged the most. Believe in where you’re headed. See the bigger picture. Then go back to being the badass you were meant to be.

I can tell in one session what the level of commitment is with a prospective client. The higher the level of commitment, the lower the level of resistance. The work goes faster and easier. Success comes quicker.
