We received several new followers so we thought we would introduce ourselves again! We are the UCF Angler Science team, a group of students that are interested in healthy oceans and awesome fishing. We want to accomplish this by being advocates for those people that know Florida’s fishing resources the best – the fishing community!
We want to give power back to the fishing community by looking deeper into the community’s concerns. We are conducting a survey that will allow the fishing community and those concerned with the health of Florida’s fishing resource to have a voice. We will then properly portray the wants and needs of the community to organizations that can make serious change.
True conservation requires a balance of accomplishing ecological and human goals. However, we are concerned the human component may be overlooked at times. This is especially worrisome as the fishing industry can provide strong economic and ecological benefits in Florida. Specifically, we are interested in your thoughts on regulations and fishing trends in Florida. This information can be very useful to make sure you get the best fishing experience possible, while also promoting healthy and sustainable fish populations. But, we want to hear all your Florida related fishing concerns too!
Our survey only has 16 questions and shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to complete. We are not associated with any state or federal management agency, nor is this information actively being used for regulation planning – so feel free to tell us anything and everything! You can find our survey and more information about us by visiting sciences.ucf.edu/angler or through our social media pages (FB/Insta/Twitter), UCF Angler Science. Follow our pages as we want to keep you informed of the results. Send us a message and we will be happy to chat or answer any questions! Thank you!
