Someday you may not remember this.

Someday you’ll be in big school, with a new teacher and you’ll make new friends.

Someday, you’ll go off to college, in a dorm and figure it out with someone you’ve never met.

Someday, you’ll get into relationship, and you’ll learn to listen, and you’ll learn to compromise.

Someday, you’ll probably get married, you’ll work together, you’ll learn to lead and you’ll learn follow.

But, today. at preschool, while holding hands, we will teach you all of this and you’ll practice. 💙💚

We cannot pick our family members, we cannot pick our circumstances. However, we can pick our battles and we can choose how we grow from them.

This week Terri Ann provide our parents group with seeds, soil, and flower pots. Our parents were each greeted with a packet of seeds to plant. We took time to plant our seeds, and share our paper flowers. We talked about all the ways we wanted to grow. Some in Christ, some in patience, being more focus, and many other ways.

We understood to grow ourselves our children, or our plants, we have to nurture ourselves first and practice healthy habits that will help us grow.

We made our commitments for the week. So we want to ask you, how do you want to grow this week? Drop your commitments down below in on the comments.

At the West Lakes Early Learning Center, we think literacy is so important, we had to literally write about it!

This week we celebrated our first Write a Note Wednesday! Families were invited to leave a special note for their child to hear during circle time.

And when we noticed a few children didn’t have one? We grabbed our pens and made sure they did. Because every child deserves to hear a few words reminding them just how special they are.

A little writing. A little reading. A whole lot of love going on over here.

Thank you to our Primrose sister school in Lake Mary for giving us the inspiration.

“S” is for Stella Star! ⭐️

Our friends from VPK-A entered the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County, Stella the Star contest. They giggled, they smiled, and they posed for a chance to have Stella visit our school for story time. Kindly leave us a note in the comments for Stella, telling her just how cute our kids are! 💙💚
We’re here to win!

Thank you to the VPK- teachers for helping set up this cute shot!

From preschoolers as poets!

After reading a couple poems from Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, Ms. Camara invited our children to play with rhyming words, share their ideas, and create an original poem with each class.

They were building vocabulary, practicing listening skills, exploring sounds, and learning that poetry belongs to them too.

The best part? There were no wrong ideas. Every little voice along with their teachers helped create something completely unique!

I’ll drop my favorite set of rhyming words in the comments. You drop yours in too!

Remember I told you about our visitor today?! Poetry walked right through the doors of the ELC!

We were thrilled to welcome Ms. Camara, the City of Orlando’s Poet Laureate, for a special poetry and literacy experience.

Her connection to the ELC makes this visit even sweeter. Her daughter attended our school! Ms. Camara is also serves as our tennis and pickleball coach, and today she returned to share her gift of poetry with our early learners.

Because she looks different in her tennis coach clothes than her poetry lady clothes, the kids had a hard time placing where they knew her from. But in each class, there was at least one clever kid who got it!!

What a beautiful full circle moment for our school family. Thank you, Camara, for showing our children that their words, ideas, and imaginations matter!

Yesterday, we held our very first Kapua Parenting Class brought West Lakes by the Peace and Justice Institute.

Kapua means child and flower in Hawaiian. All of the women were welcomed into our space with a Hawaiian lei. Our Hawaiian themed room and soft music gave us permission to slow down, journal, breathe, and care for ourselves while learning new ways to care for our children.

We are grateful for every woman who showed up ready to learn, connect, and grow. Our little hui (a group united by a common purpose), is about to embark on an incredible journey together. This is only the beginning!

Throwback Thursday!
Did you make it or did you miss it?

A few of our team members stepped outside the classroom and into the community for Lift Orlando’s Back to School Block Party!

From school supplies and free haircuts to family resources and plenty of fun, this event helped our West Lakes children start the school year feeling ready and supported. We are grateful for community partners like Lift Orlando who continue to show up for our families!

At Primrose Schools, we don’t just teach our children sharing and caring, we model it too!

We are so grateful for our partnership with Primrose at Avalon Park and Primrose at Lake Nona. Seema and Manoj Naik dropped by this week with a big check and even bigger hearts to present the AdventHealth for Children West Lakes Early Learning Center with a check from their Spring Fling Fundraiser!

I’m thinking…this can buy us a lot more cookies🤭

We appreciate you and your continued support to children and families.
