Let's Get Reading, Oakshire!
Let’s Read, OCPS!, a district-wide reading challenge, will run from January 27 to April 30, 2025, and aims to encourage students to read for enjoyment and develop a lifelong love of reading by contributing to the district-wide goal of reading 20 million minutes.
About the Challenge
All OCPS students, employees, families, and community members are encouraged to participate in the Let’s Read, OCPS! challenge by individually reading at least 500 minutes throughout the challenge. Participants are encouraged to read whatever they choose for enjoyment and to log their minutes in Beanstack, a LaunchPad application that motivates and rewards students for reading.
How to Participate
Students and employees are encouraged to log their minutes in Beanstack, which can be found on LaunchPad, in the Library Research Tools folder. Students and employees can earn badges and view their progress throughout the challenge by opening the Let’s Read, OCPS! challenge on the Beanstack Challenges page.

Hello Oakshire Parents! First, I hope you all are having a fun, and safe summer. I wanted to take a moment to inform parents of some announcements and information:
Meet the Teacher is Thursday, August 8th from 5-7 pm. It will begin with a short meeting for all parents in the cafeteria, and then teachers will open their rooms to parents. More details on this evening to come.
We have spaces available in our afternoon Voluntary Pre-School class. Please come to school and see Ms. Clavier for enrollment information asap!
***We are looking for parents to help lead our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) for this next school year. PTO events will be a group effort. We are not expecting one or two leaders to do everything, but we do need individuals to serve as points of contact for organization and continuity. Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in being one of those leaders for PTO. PTO did some great things for the school and we would like that to continue. Thank you!
Thank you parents for making sure your children were here on time and rested for state testing these past couple weeks. We appreciate your support. Additionally, I hope all our mothers had a nice Mother’s Day!
If you haven’t already, please email us your intent regarding attendance at Oakshire next year. Email [email protected]
Act now! Come in and enroll your child in VPK or Kindergarten. Spaces are limited!
The Book Fair is May 13-17, with Tuesday, May 14, being Family Night 3:00-6:00 pm
The last day of school is Friday, May 24. Book bags cannot be brought to school Thursday or Friday, May 23 and 24.
Thank you and have a great weekend!
Dear Oakshire Parents- Our FAST Reading state assessment went well. Tomorrow is our last FAST Math Assessment for grades 3,4 and 5. Please help support your kids by having them here, on time tomorrow. We have found that students who take the state assessments on time do better than if they have to make it up. Also, of course, make sure they get good rest and eat breakfast. Thank you for your support!!
Bounce into summer PTO Fundraiser. Forms must be returned before the 17th.
