Cilka's Journey: A Novel (Tattooist of Auschwitz) 03/04/2020

So I currently am reading this book. It's a follow up to the Tattooist of Auschwitz, which was also an amazing read, especially if you like texts about the Holocaust. Cilka's Journey is a love story, yet it is about a young girl, who was quite resilient during a detrimental time in our world's history. I truly am enjoying this book, and loved its precursor.

I am Worthy, Loved, and Valued 03/03/2020

This book, written by a friend and former co-worker, Amanda Helman, has a wonderful message that we all need to hear. Helps with self-value for children (and adults). A book that should be in every classroom and home. (Affiliate Link)

I am Worthy, Loved, and Valued This children's book provides a universal message to all children to know they are loved, worthy, and valued. The illustrations capture funny images that show children that no matter what they do they are not defined by their mistakes. Rather, they are encouraged to feel loved, worthy, and valued...

Roll with It 03/02/2020

I just finished reading this book with my daughter who is 9. It is definitely more for middle-school age, but, depending on the level of the reader, as low as 3rd. This book tells the story of a boisterous girl with cerebral palsy whose is turned upside down. Forced to move to a new town, and school, she is not just the new kid, but a new kid in a wheelchair. There are several real-life issues addressed in this book and is told through a unique voice that is a typical pre-teen. Teachers, it's a great story for kids who loved Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. Grab both books below (affiliate links)

Happy Read Across America Day (AKA Dr. Seuss Day). Since I love to read, I am going to post some of my favorite texts that I have read, my children have read, or I have utilized in the classrooms I have taught in. Books are great gifts for your children, grandchildren, friends and family, or even to donate to a local school or classroom library. Don't forget about yourself as well. A good book is great for self-care.
