It is important for anyone entering the EM field to understand how the National Weather Service works closely with EM professionals to help communities prepare for severe weather. Recently, EMSA students had the opportunity to tour Hurricane Hunter planes for both the National Weather Service and the Air Force. We were able to speak directly to the professionals and learn about the work that they do.

EMSA students were given the opportunity to participate in a regional mass casualty exercise as both evaluators/controllers and as volunteer victims. These exercises are essential to public safety as they help hospitals and officials practice and improve their emergency response procedures. As future emergency managers, it is important for our students to experience these drills firsthand.

Today, EMSA students had the amazing opportunity to take part in Seminole County's Full-Scale Exercise as disaster victims involving a downed airplane at Orlando-Sanford International Airport! EMSA's own Treasurer Tommy Robertson did an outstanding job organizing and directing this exercise through his internship at Seminole County's OEM!

These exercises are excellent opportunities for students to get involved in the field!
