it’s that time again.. the season of change is upon us. 🌱
the old version of you is withering away and dying off. you are letting go of the stale and uncomfortable view of yourself as a fresh version of you springs forth. this new version of you is EXCITING and at the same time frightening because they’re unfamiliar. It can’t be stopped. this change is inevitable and maybe even more importantly - it’s cyclical. this cycle repeats itself over and over and over and over. what a beautiful dance of life. how blessed are we to have the opportunity to grow and change and live countless lifetimes in one. i am coming to realize just how cyclical this process is, and after seeing so many versions of myself that I carefully curated, healed and tended to with enormous amounts of care simply whither and die off, i am becoming increasingly comfortable with being carried into the new and just.. enjoying the ride. having my energy on it just isn’t as important anymore. i give it over to the Divine knowing it’s all in order without my hand anyway. give thanks for the new. 🌬️

Hello Queens! I have noticed some new faces here in my corner of these inter-streets so I just want to take some time to say thank you so much for being here to every single one of my vibrant community members - old and new. 💛

For those who may not know me yet, my name is Kenya and I am The Curl Coach®. I lead black women to effortless at-home natural hair care through spiritual healing and customized Curl Coaching for your unique hair type.

I am 27 living in Atlanta, Georgia and married to my college sweetheart. My husband is former military so we’ve moved every 2 years across and within the states of Virginia and Florida before settling back into our hometown of Atlanta 🍑 It feels so good to be home and putting down roots! I am a hiker, an *ahem* enthusiastic plant lady and I love LOVE discovering new food dishes. I’m particular as hell though so I screen every new restaurant I go to… extensively lol. If you hit me up to hang out most likely I’m suggesting some type of day date in the forested mountains, a picnic feast in the park or a mixture of the two. I’m a Ta**us, I gotta get my food and nature on. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I will definitely be copping a few essential oil diffusers to elevate the vibe in my home. Their Black Friday Sale actually starts today so it’s perfect timing! Also, I recently became obsessed with home organization via on Netflix and I’m crossing my fingers that has a holiday sale on storage solutions to make it a bit easier as I begin to transform my space to be more beautiful and functional. The things we look forward to as adults. 😂

It’s giving.. thirst-quenching.💧

As I start fresh with my crown, it is my intention that every wash day is a spiritually nourishing experience, not just a chore. I will usually light a candle, tune into a masterclass by and breathe a sigh of relief that I am FINALLY washing my hair, lol.

The Curl Define shampoo and conditioner has been giving me everything I need in my routine since chopping my hair (again) because of breakage at the nape of my neck. The shampoo lathers well and leaves my hair feeling deeply hydrated as I rinse it out. The conditioner bottle says it provides “intense moisture” and that’s exactly how I would describe what it does to my curls! It feels so good it almost makes you feel like you don’t need to deep condition… Almost 😉

I recently relearned what it feels like when I am tired. After years of pushing through exhaustion to execute a task and reach a goal I had actually forgotten what it feels like in my body when I have reached my limit. Or maybe I had just learned to immediately dismiss the mental and physical alarms that were always ringing out - alerting me that my vessel & spirit needed rest on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. 💡 No wonder I was perpetually burnt out.

Anyway, I gave all of that up this past month [*cough* I was forced to face how unnatural it is to live with a constant running background of anxiety and overwhelm when spirit had me sick on my ass for nearly a month *cough*]. Instead of valuing productivity, I genuinely value personal peace. Instead of valuing more, I value balance. I am a retiring overachiever and this feels natural. 🌊🍂
