Dr. Pamela Wisniewski and her students at the University of Central Florida (UCF) research how technology affects human behavior and society. Topics of interest include:

‣ Adolescent Online Safety - We look at how to balance the risks with the benefits teens (ages 13-17) encounter when engaging with others through networked technologies

‣ Networked Privacy - We understand how the widespread use

of networked technologies impacts privacy, or the interpersonal boundaries set between groups of users

‣ Social computing - We examine how the use of social media impact social behaviors

‣ Health Information Technology - We investigate computer systems that support the care and well-being of people including assistive technologies for caregivers

‣ Educational Technologies - We design, develop, and evaluate technologies that enhance K-12 and colligate learning outcomes and improve the quality of Information Technology (IT) education

We are conducting an online focus group study where teen participants would discuss, evaluate, and re-design adolescent online safety features with other teens and some researchers to improve ideas from a previous study. Teens will also gain design experience with UX tools such as FigJam and learn more about online safety!

The requirements for the participants are:
a. Aged 13-17 years.
b. based in the United States.
c. Able to communicate in English.
d. Able to participate in a Zoom meeting.

All participants will be compensated with a $20 amazon gift card on completion of the study.
