So the biggest lesson coming out of 2021 …💡
If you are not happy with something, only you have the power to change it. I realized that, now I’m smiling like this more often 😊
These days recording podcast episodes are one of my favorite things to do. I literally get to learn, share, and inspire others while grabbing coffee and talking shop with good friends.
Just finished recording episode 6 and published the first full length episode of Strength in the Details 🤗. That episode is ready to drop Tuesday. Will you be ready?
🎙🎧🗣
Any guesses on who my first guest might be!? You definitely don’t want to miss it!

As a coach, I want to earn trust. Not through accolades and awards but through consistent leadership. I want to be known for being authentic. Pushing every athlete with the kind of tough love that is both persistent and patient. I am capable of meeting you where you are while coaching to the athlete I know you have the potential to be.
As a coach, I want to be remembered for more than the athletic achievements of the individuals that I work with. My goal is to have a positive impact on the humans they become long after they walk away from the platform. If I can teach discipline in sport, I can teach discipline in life. If I can teach resilience in training, I can teach it for life’s greatest adversity.
If I can build work capacity, morals, mental toughness, confidence, and compassion through sport and have it translate to an athlete’s personal relationships, business ventures, or educational journey then I can say, I’ve done my job as a COACH!

My grind is just different. Im doing the kind of work that won’t be featured on the highlight reel.
It’s not sexy, but it’s required to be the best. It’s necessary when you are set apart.
Strength is in the details…
The few 🦅

Caffeine and a kitty cat: an early wake up call story ☕️😄🐈⬛
Despite working from home, I still prefer to get an early start on my day. I am most creative and productive as the sun comes up.
Also kitties do not really allow much sleep past 6am 😉
I get 15-20 minutes of mobility work in and then grab my coffee and yogurt. Choose a project and dedicate the morning to completing it. By noon I’ve typically accomplished my major tasks for the day and I have a little flexibility in the afternoons for training, meetings, or a nap before coaching or teaching in the evening.
What does your morning routine consist of? How do you arrange your day to be the best version of you?
Today is a great day to have a great day! 😎

I’ve been keeping a secret 🤐
… but hear me out … I told y’all I was working on something. Well I’m finally ready to share! 👩🏾💻
It’s OFFICIAL, I’m launching a podcast 🗣🎙
will be available February 2022 on and and I’m too excited (and only a little nervous).
Over the past 2 months, I’ve been figuring out how to deliver conversations, advice, tools and tips on improving mindset and mental performance in exercise and sport.
Working with athletes and exercisers for more than a decade, I’ve been intrigued by the psychological aspects of behavior.
🏋🏽 Beyond reps and sets, how does an athlete become elite?
🧗🏽♂️ Why do some people quit an activity and others climb on?
🏃🏽 How do athletes mentally prepare for an ultra marathon performance?
👩🏽🏫 Can coaches teach confidence or is that something that happens naturally?
I sit down with friends, colleagues, industry professionals, and researchers to chat about these things and more. Go follow the podcast page for updates, ways to support and subscribe, and even a few giveaways 😜
Mark your calendar 📆 friends. We launch in 30 very short days!
Drop a 🤩 if you’re ready to dive into - the gritty details 💪🏾
Leave a comment or DM me if you have topics or potential guests that you’d like me to chat with on the podcast. I’m listening 👂

Dear 2021,
You did not disappoint! It’s been an incredible journey and I regret nothing.

❕bought and sold homes, moved to a new city
❕walked away from a job that no longer served me
❕ ended relationships and strengthened new friendships
❕said ‘no’ unapologetically
❕gave an enthusiastic ‘yes’ to opportunities that God created for me
✨✨and became Dr. A’Naja M. Newsome
In a year that started with absolutely zero resolutions, I actually accomplished so much. I lived the past 365 days outside of my comfort zone. I’m proud of this year and I’m inspired to keep pushing.
Hey 2022 …
It’s time to slay 😏💃🏽
