THE CRNAs BEHIND NURSE ANESTHESIA 101
Ryan obtained his Masterâs in Anesthesiology from Barry University and began practice as a CRNA in 2015. Ryan is one of the most sought-after preceptors in his anesthesia group due to his knowledge base, critical care intuition, communication skills, and passion to educate. On any given shift, Ryan is educating nurse anesthesia students from both AdventHealth University and Florida State University.
The opportunity to develop a supportive platform, which caters to nurses and nursing students, fits seamlessly into Ryanâs strengths as an educator and mentor. Ryan regularly offers job shadowing to both ICU nurses and nursing students. During these specific experiences, he is often asked the big questions about the path to nurse anesthesia school. Watching ICU nurses that have shadowed him reach their full potential as CRNAs was the defining impetus that led to the development of Nurse Anesthesia 101. The opportunities that exist within the Nurse Anesthesia 101 platform offer tangible benefits to Ryanâs clients. His ability to impart clarity is a vital component of his leadership expertise.
Ryanâs professional background is diverse and expansive. Prior to pursuing a degree in nursing, he studied engineering at Virginia Tech, designed specifications and marketing for a publicly traded IT business, and also worked as a musician and recording artist. Ryanâs interest in nurse anesthesia was the reason he made the pivotal career move into nursing. Having grown up in a family of nurses and healthcare professionals, Ryan learned of the CRNA profession and made this vital decision before taking his first pre-requisite nursing class.
Having an artistic and innovative mind, combined with a desire to teach others, Ryan envisioned the opportunity to create an interactive and supportive community of nurse anesthesia educators. This vision led to a partnership with his colleagues and friends, Dan and Hilary, and ultimately to the development of Nurse Anesthesia 101.
When Ryan is not in the operating room, you might find him boating, fishing, hiking, or camping with his wife Sam and their six children. He also loves traveling with Sam, teaching his children how to DIY, and hosting special events with friends and family.

THE CRNAs BEHIND NURSE ANESTHESIA 101
Hilary is one-third of Nurse Anesthesia 101 and offers a unique perspective to our organization. Her proven history of hard work, dedication, and laser focus allows her to serve our clientele quite well. Sheâs an incredible resource, expert in pediatric anesthesia, and a logistical genius who truly cares for those we help. Her unique perspective flourishes from a dichotomy of caring for pediatric patients and possessing a true passion for helping other women, especially mothers, navigate the vital decisions facing them as they pursue becoming a CRNA.
As a mother of two boys (three if we include Dan), she can relate to nurses and nursing students pursuing higher education. Additionally, she intimately understands the balance of prioritizing family life while pursuing the coveted CRNA title. This knowledge and real-life experience is paramount as she helps others accomplish their anesthesia goals.
Prior to nursing, Hilary honorably represented the United States as a member of the US Figure Skating team. Fifteen years of competitive ice skating taught her the true value of discipline, commitment, and relentless pursuit of a goal. Although her competitive ice skating days are over, she is still the best figure skater at Nurse Anesthesia 101! These days she consistently proves her baseball prowess as she passionately supports her sonsâ baseball endeavors. Apart from anesthesia, Hilary enjoys experiencing all that Florida beaches have to offer, maintaining her athletic abilities, and fiercely supporting her beloved New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

THE CRNAs BEHIND NURSE ANESTHESIA 101
Dan is an experienced nurse anesthetist, entrepreneur and integral to the success of Nurse Anesthesia 101. His passions include elevating and transforming the nurse anesthesia profession through a multitude of entrepreneurial endeavors. After a decade in the operating room he feels compelled to support qualified students and nurses in their pursuit of the coveted nurse anesthesia title. Shaped by thousands of hours precepting students in every speciality CRNAs practice within, Dan knows what truly is required for nurses to find success in anesthesia.
Danâs unique background transitioning into nurse anesthesia from the business world serves our clientele incredibly well. His previous marketing and public relations career allows him to identify audience desires and apply Nurse Anesthesia 101âs mission to their professional goals. Connecting with nursing students and nurses passionately seeking higher education in the anesthesia arena drives Danâs pursuit of continuing a family-instilled value of helping others.
Dan holds a MSN in Nurse Anesthesia from the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences and a BS in Public Relations from the University of Florida. Outside of the operating room he can usually be found adventuring with Hilary and their two sons, coaching youth baseball, relentlessly growing business endeavors with Ryan, and exploring the beautiful waterways of Florida on his boat âRapid Sequence.â

Welcome to Nurse Anesthesia 101, a community developed to support those pursuing the incredible profession of nurse anesthesia.
WE WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE! Beyond helping others become CRNAs, we simply enjoy connecting with other nurses and healthcare professionals. Those relationships offer incredible resources and expand the collective quality of healthcare. We genuinely love what we do as nurse anesthetists, and want to share our expertise, knowledge, and experience with you.
Charting your course to anesthesia school is quite daunting for most nurses. WE ARE HERE TO HELP! We want to show you why we enjoy the clinical opportunities, respect, flexibility and most importantly, the autonomy that CRNAs receive today. Suffice it to say, we wouldn't change our profession for any other opportunity in medicine. That being said, we would change how we arrived into anesthesia.
Along the way to becoming a CRNA, there were specific transitional points that considerably shortened the process. These decisions were seemingly small in the moment, but more valuable than we could have imagined. Little did we know how vital these decisions were at the time. Hindsight truly is 20/20. This is why we've embraced the concept of helping others understand the long-term benefits of a well-timed plan. There are many steps to gain a coveted acceptance letter from an accredited nurse anesthesia program. Guidance is key and timing is everything.
WE ARE HERE to help you get that opportunity, and get it faster than you would alone. When the stakes are this high, you can't afford to miss an opportunity. Missing that mark could be the equivalent of your entire anesthesia training tuition. This concept is not part of the mainstream anesthesia training conversation, so don't worry if this sounds foreign. THAT'S WHERE WE COME IN! We offer guidance and support in a way that no other resource in the nursing community does. Take comfort in knowing you are now in great hands.
We genuinely invest in you, your progression, and we crave the visible excitement when nurses realize their potential. We are hopeful that helping future generations of anesthesia providers is a long-term investment into the great profession we've grown to love so much.
Thank YOU for visiting this page! Expect to see exciting and relevant content soon, as we build on our mission to enlighten, educate, and provide much needed clarity to all of you.
