Recently OCPS announced increased budget cuts due to the continued public school enrollment decline.

Stonewyck PTA’s membership has decreased 51.2% since this time last year, despite a huge increase in enrollment due to the closing of Meadow Woods Elementary, new families moving in, and school choice.

PTA’s mission is to be a voice for all children, and that includes advocating for Stonewyck Elementary teachers and administrators at the state and federal level for funding and support from federal and state lawmakers, the Florida Department of Education, and local community leaders, including OCPS School Board.

Joining our PTA allows your voice to be added to the other 117 individuals who understand our mission and want to support it.

A PTO is not a PTA. There’s a difference.

A PTA is part of a statewide and national network with a long history of advocating for every child, supporting families, and strengthening public education. When you join a PTA, you’re not just supporting one school or one community. You’re adding your voice to a movement that works for all children and youth at the local, state, and national levels.

A PTO may support its individual school, but it does not offer the same connection, structure, resources, training, or collective advocacy that come with PTA membership.

Both may serve schools, but they are not the same.

PTA is more than a parent group. It’s a movement.

PTA made a SAFE decision by moving indoors for our first program of the year! 🤭

We hope everyone who attended (including parents!) learned what to do when an emergency happens ☎️, how to safely walk at crosswalks 🚶‍♀️🚶, and what to do when there is a fire! 🔥

Special shoutout to our PTA Board for their dedication despite the monsoon, our adult and student volunteers, and Stonewyck Elementary for hosting.

Very thankful for those who came out in person and virtually to attend our first PTA meeting last night!

Now we have to ask: who’s not sitting at the table?

We want to make sure any parent, teacher, student, and community member interested in Stonewyck Elementary School knows they are welcome.

Speak two languages? We need you here to help translate.

Have an idea for donations? Grab a seat at the lunch table, bring a cushion because they’re hard!

Parents have homework too!

Don’t forget —- if you are interested in volunteering at the school you are *required* to register on the OCPS ADDitions website and pass a background check.

Volunteer Areas:
👩‍🏫 working inside the school (classroom, P.E., lunchroom, media center, etc)
🚌 chaperoning field trips
🎭 assisting with any school club programs
👥 assisting with any PTA event

You must register and completely watch a safety video on the ADDitions website before you can complete the process.
