Innovator

Google has just announced the 20th Anniversary cohorts for the 2026 Certified Innovator Academies, and it brings back incredible memories of my experience in Amsterdam in 2024.

My journey didn't start in Amsterdam, though—it started with mentorship. I was encouraged by friends who were already Innovators to apply. They reviewed my application and challenged me to deeply think through the process before I even hit submit.

That rigor prepared me for the Academy itself, where I met a global cohort, worked alongside a dedicated team, and partnered with an affinity buddy. Using Design Thinking to build and eventually pitch a project to solve real educational issues was a career highlight. Working on my project with the guidance of my amazing mentor Dr. Tyler Tarver for a year

I had a total "fan girl/boy" moment today at the Pete&C conference! I finally got to meet Brian Buffington in real life. We’ve followed each other online, and it made my day when he said he was excited to finally meet me, too!

His keynote presentation, "Things That Can’t Be Googled," was absolutely inspiring. It’s so refreshing to see such a large group of Pennsylvania educators getting fired up about the heart of teaching. 🍎
