The Outrageously Bold Award at Cristo Rey Orlando is voted on by the entire faculty and staff. And when the votes came in for our founding year, Deacon Pete Pronko and Mrs. Johana Santiago-Puckering were neck and neck both times.

So we did what any bold school would do. We gave out two.

As Founding President Amanda Livermore said, “So many of our staff are living outrageously bold.” And these two proved it.

Our Phoenix scholars did not just show up to work at the YMCA this year. They grew into their roles.

Recently, they had the opportunity to sit down with the YMCA leadership team and share their experience, reflecting on the areas where they improved and the impact they made. Watching our students speak with that kind of confidence and self-awareness is exactly what Cristo Rey Orlando is all about.

In partnership with Go Baby Go at University of Central Florida, our Phoenix scholars had the opportunity to modify and personalize custom mobility cars for children in our surrounding community. From cutting PVC pipes to using power drills to adding the personal touches that make each car special, our students showed up and got to work.

For Cristo Rey Orlando, this was year one of being part of something truly meaningful. And we could not be more proud.
