We love Ag Lit Week! A HUGE Thank You to our volunteers like Oneida County Soil and Water Conservation District for taking time out of their day to teach students all about agriculture!

In observance of Agricultural Literacy Week we participated with Cornell Cooperative Extension in visiting local elementary school classrooms to read "Seasons on the Farm" by Chelsea Tornetto. The students then discussed the various chores that farmers have throughout the year. Ending with most of the students declaring that they wanted to be farmers.

The Oneida County Conservation Education Day Committee is happy to announce the Grand Prize winner of the 2025 Poster Contest. Mae R. a sixth-grade student from Mrs. Allen’s class at Adirondack Middle School, Boonville. The committee presented her awards on Monday, December 8th.

The 2025 Contest Grand Prize winner received a fishing package valued $125. Presented by the Federated Sportsmen’s Clubs of Oneida County. She also received a “Keep looking for a Bluebirds” print by wildlife artist Tom Yacovella, Outdoorsman and Wildlife Artist who passed away January 2018. Awarded in his memory by the Central New York Youth Fishing Educators.

New York certified educators are eligible to earn a bundle of three Tower Gardens, a three- tiered grow rack with built in LED lights, a compost tumbler, or a vermicomposting Worm Cafe, in order to extend their school growing season and provide teachers the tools to facilitate experiential learning opportunities using agriculture as the context for learning.
