Fun Facts on Wolverine Wednesday!
UVU’s story began in 1941 as a small vocational school with just 132 students—and has since grown into the largest public university in Utah, serving more than 43,000 Wolverines today. Over the decades, the university has evolved from a local training hub to a nationally recognized leader in engaged learning.
The Woodbury School of Business is now one of the West’s largest AACSB-accredited business schools, connecting students to real-world opportunities through hands-on projects, global trips, and strong industry partnerships. UVU has welcomed executives from companies like Disney, Adobe, and Goldman Sachs to share their insights with students, helping bridge classroom learning with practical experience.
From its roots in Orem with stunning views of Mount Timpanogos to its ever-growing network of alumni across the world, UVU continues to embody grit, growth, and community. Every MBA and MSF graduate carries forward that same spirit of determination—learning by doing and leading with purpose.

MAcc Student Spotlight
Celebrating the students who bring dedication, curiosity, and drive to UVU’s MAcc program.
Meet Madelynne Erickson — MAcc student from Salt Lake City.
Madelynne’s journey through the MAcc program has been defined by perseverance and a love of learning. Inspired by her professors, classmates, and mentors—especially Marty Van Wagoner—she’s found motivation in every challenge and confidence in her ability to grow.
Her next goal is to earn her CPA license and continue learning in whatever role she takes on. Madelynne’s commitment to pushing herself through difficult concepts has shaped her into a resilient, self-driven accountant ready to take on new opportunities.
Outside the classroom, she shares a fun fact—she’s an identical twin! Her story is a reminder that progress often comes from challenging yourself and believing you can rise to meet what’s next.

International Students’ Day: MAcc Spotlight
Honoring the stories and students who bring drive, creativity, and heart to UVU’s MAcc program.
Meet Danielle Sowers — MAcc student and staff accountant at Trove Brands.
Danielle’s graduate journey has been defined by community and courage. A lifelong Provo resident, she joined the MAcc program to continue learning while working full-time—and found belonging in a cohort that celebrates teamwork and shared growth.
Through open conversations and late-night study sessions, Danielle overcame early imposter syndrome and built lifelong friendships. She brings individuality and positivity to everything she does—whether as a left-handed, partially color-blind accountant or the only girl among her siblings. Her gratitude for her professors, peers, and mentors reflects the strong sense of support that defines UVU’s accounting community.

Small Act, Make All the Difference
Accounting is often seen as numbers, precision, and process—but behind every balance sheet is a person, and behind every audit team is a culture. In times of stress or uncertainty, small acts—a kind word, a shared resource, a moment of encouragement—can make all the difference.
As MAcc students, your attention to detail is what makes you strong in the classroom. That same attention to your peers’ well-being is what makes you a leader. This week, look for ways to lift someone else.
Because in our field, integrity and empathy go hand in hand. 💼💚
