Here is a little sneak peek and into one of my newest books Linus the Minus and the Do-Nothing Zero. Watch this video as I go into storytime with my four-year-old son. We are going to read the beginning of the story and I am VoiceOver and kind of about the book how this is teaching the property of zero as well as how everything sets up in an equation with the number zero. And the number zero ends up making Linus pretty frustrated and it’s a great book to get some giggles while also teaching a math concept to kids.

These are so cute!

🎃 Make these cosy yarn-wrapped pumpkins from recycled cardboard! Cut out a pumpkin shape, snip small slots around the edges, then weave colourful yarn across it. Finish with a twig stalk and a felt or paper leaf.

I didn’t start writing children’s books because I dreamed of becoming an author. 📚✨

I started because, as a teacher, I was always looking for a better way to make learning stick.

I had the activities. I had the songs. I had the characters and teaching ideas.

But I kept coming back to one thing:

Kids remember stories. ❤️

When a math concept becomes a character…
when a lesson becomes an adventure…
when kids are laughing while they’re learning…

Suddenly, it isn’t just something they memorized for a test.

It becomes something they remember.

So I started turning the ideas I had used with my own students into books.

And somewhere along the way, it became bigger than my old classroom.

Now these little characters get to sit on bookshelves and classroom rugs in places I may never see. 🥹

And maybe someday, my own kids will pull these same books off a shelf and read them to their kids.

That might be my favorite part of all. ❤️
