Hello! I'm Emily, the teacher creator of Emily Education. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade. I love making resources for the classroom.

Posting daily resources for preschool + Kindergarten + 1st grade + 2nd grade + 3rd grade + reading comprehension + the occasional laugh. This coming year (21-22) I will be taking on a new challenge of teaching preschool.

Let’s take a minute and have a chat about one of my favorite Back to School Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. This story is an oldie but a goody and should still be used ❤️.

Some insight into my interactive alphabet anchor charts. It has been 11 years since I started making these and doing these with kids so they have been in many classrooms and many homeschool settings used nationwide. The kids absolutely adore them. All three of my children have done these posters and I’m sure my fourth that is on the way will do it as well. It is an engaging activity that connects them with the alphabet.

Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig is one of those darling stories that should be in everyone’s library! Scroll through to see our anchor chart and craft. It is a great one to teach how a character can change throughout a story, while also teaching important social skills like including others.

Cute Maggie learning all about Character Traits so she can Understand Characters in a story. She read Rosie Revere after this. She will be hitting Reading Comprehension hard over the next while. She is already loving it.

Anchor charts aren’t just classroom decorations—they’re learning tools.

And yes I went on a snarky rant 😂. I’m pregnant in the summer. My only excuse.

In my classroom—and now in our homeschool—I only put things on the walls that my students have helped create and actually use. When children build an anchor chart with you, they connect to it, remember it, and refer back to it. That’s where the real learning happens. 💛
