We still have just a couple of spots in our bands - mostly for guitarists, but it's "Last Call" for getting into one of the Lab Bands... rehearsals started last week!!

Hello Rockers!! The end-of-year concert for the Lab Bands is only 2 months for today!! Save the date!!

The bands are absolutely CRUSHING things this semester - many bands are doing so well we're adding "bonus" songs to their set list!

Our goal at the Rock Lab is to bring music into the lives of our students - the healing power of it, the joy of it, the self worth boost that comes from embracing it, the sheer fun of it, and more...

Everything else - including making money doing so - is secondary to that primary goal.

Going into the last quarter of the year, we’re thinking about how lucky we are at the Rock Lab to have had ao many amazing teachers over the years - including this magnificent human that Dave randomly ran into a gig not too long ago - the one and only Jennifer Tarasevich!

From Dave: over the years, I have casually been throwing songs that qualify as a 12 bar blues into a big playlist in my Apple Music library. Given that we had the first ever Rock Lab Blues Jam the other night, before it happened I took time to put together a playlist that is all a bunch of songs that are 12, 16, or 24 bar blues. Even though there are hundreds and hundreds more that would qualify, it’s a good start.

So if you want to familiarize yourself with the first original American art form, it’s Nnot a bad idea to just have it playing as you're doing the dishes or doing your homework or whatever and it will seep into your bones.

Oh, as a bonus, I took care to put them in alphabetical order, meaning it starts with the key of a, that has some songs in the key of A, then A flat, then the key of B and B flat, C, then D and D flat, etc

From Dave: Not too long ago, my former student Sara came through town and we grabbed a bite to eat. She is now a professional bassist herself doing a100+ shows a year in the Midwest in a popular festival band.

I love it when I get to see my former students!
