LOAD of Fun and Oregon Schools Foundation are once again excited to provide all incoming kindergarteners with a School Tools Kit that is stocked with all the supplies your child will need for at home practice to help make their kindergarten year successful! Make sure to grab yours from your child’s teacher at your scheduled back to school appointment time.

Welcome to August! Today kicks off Ohio’s annual tax free holiday. The perfect time to stock up on school supplies and back to school clothes.
Here are all three elementary school kindergarten supply lists. When purchasing clothing and shoes keep in mind, clothing that is comfortable, durable and easy for your child to manage on their own is best. Consider elastic waists and slip on (closed toed shoes) if your little one isn’t yet independent with fastening and tying.
For more info of what items are eligible for the tax free holiday check out the link below: https://tax.ohio.gov/business/ohio-business-taxes/sales-and-use/sales-tax-holiday

Just about a month left before your new kinders first day of school! To help ease some stress and anxiety for your little one, take these last few weeks to work on making sure he/she can easily maneuver his/her clothing. Make sure he/she can easily get clothing on/off or up/down for toileting purposes. Make sure to practice how to:
✳️ Snap ❇️ Button ✳️ Buckle ❇️ Tie ✳️ Zip
Also consider slip on or velcro type shoes or start practicing how to tie. Of course teachers will be there to help but the end goal of kindergarten is to help our little ones become independent and successful. ❤️
Check out this video about buttoning, zipping and tying to help get your child started.

Q: What is one of the most important skills your little one should know coming into kindergarten?
A: NAME WRITING!
Name writing is a skill that helps to build identity and confidence, gives children a sense of accomplishment, and strengthens fine motor skills and letter identification. It is a task that they will need to be able to do many times EVERY day in kindergarten.
Students who come into kindergarten knowing how to easily write their name will be one step ahead of the game. If your child can not do this skill yet…no problem. Start now and by the end of summer he/she will he a pro!
