The practice of turning people into trees! -

"When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn't get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don't get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree.
The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying 'You are too this, or I'm too this!
That judgment mind comes in. And so l practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are."

Big congratulations to the newly trained senior instructors in Denmark!!
After a month of trainings (and years prior) Per, Casper and Michael are the new leaders in bringing the art of recreational tree climbing to their country.
The past month they were skilled in training others adaptive climbing systems, creating canopy villages via Treeboats, rescue, multi-pitch rescues, coaching others on rope, proper usage of gear, tree inspection, climbing ethics, etc.. along with the history and lineage of where these skills originated from, for public tree climbing explorations.
It’s been honor passing the torch and dropping 3 decades of knowledge and experience to these new instructors.
Excited to see where they’ll take the next generations of Arbornauts!!

Tak. Giv dem lige et like for deres kæmpe indsats

It’s been almost 20yrs since our first introduction to World Treehouse Association (aka Tree House Conference) and every year they seem to rise above the previous year. This year TCP had the privilege of hosting a tall tree climb for many of the participants, including a bonus ascent with keynote speaker, Julia Butterfly Hill. This was Butterfly’s first canopy access since her heroic journey of living in ,and protecting, an elder Redwood for over two years in the late 90s. (Check out her story if you’re unfamiliar with her feats)
An exceptional experience with a true Lorax -
Sharing a branch with fellow nature lovers is always a joy. This becomes a type of a reconnection to ourselves and the environment, conjuring up an abundance of wealth for our health and insight to our life’s purpose. It becomes a type of a reset.
I’ve been climbing, teaching and ascending trees around our planet for over 30yrs and occasionally I get myself into a rut where “I can’t see the forest from the trees” and half the time I’m completely unaware that the trees are shading out my sight, my Vision.
Being able to share a branch with one of my early inspirational, environmental warrior hero’s was just what the soul needed. Yes, we had a fun, exciting, jolly experience but the truer, deeper seeds of hope and future dreams were planted in that short amount of treetime that we experienced together. The inspiration that Julia (her past, present and future self) brings is one of reverence for all living beings. Julia embodies the TCP philosophy of an Inspirational Tree Climber, she’s a soul connecting people back to themselves and back to their place in nature.
It takes a village -
Mystery works in mysterious ways. It was a tree tribe that made this experience a success. So many working factors from Murph Barefoot builders organizing this years event, to Nelson Treehouse and Supply for all the administrative work, to Jason Lindsey for rigging the tree, to Nick Merriman for supplying the device that got Julia aloft, Rainer for planting the seed and a special thanks to Rowan Mitchell with for all his support.
Without the tribe, we lose the connection
