A simple thank you can make a big impact! 🍀 Thank you notes mean the world to the supporters who help our programs and members thrive. This outline is a great resource for crafting a heartfelt message, and nothing is more meaningful than a note written by a member in their own handwriting and from the heart.

4-H'ers, thank you notes aren't hard to write, and they mean a lot to their recipients! If you haven't written one yet to those who supported you at your county fair, why not get it done this weekend so that you can cross it off of your "to-do" list.

Remember that people don't HAVE to support you and your fair - they do it because they believe in you and in the 4-H program.

And parents, let your child write the note! Fair supporters don't care if the handwriting is messy, or if a word is misspelled! It's much more meaningful if your child writes it him or herself.

So use those 4 Hs! Use your Head to think of a nice note, your Hands to write it, your Heart to make it meaningful, and your Health will be better for having gotten it done!

Don't forget to let us know if you have any scratched/cancelled fair entries.

We know things can change between the time you sign up for fair and the time fair arrives. If your members signed up for any classes and know they won't be bringing that to fair this year, please send us an email at [email protected] to let us know.

This is especially important in our animal categories, as our superintendents are hard at work making sure everything fits.

Our latest newsletter is hot off the presses!

Summer is here, the days have gotten longer, the sunshine may be hiding this week, but it will be here to stay before we know it. Those warmer temps will help everything grow; our plants, our animals, and especially our amazing youth members. It’s one of our favorite times of year because all that hard work our members put in all year really starts to shine (just like our kids!). From camps and outdoor adventures to county fair fun, there’s so much to look forward to this season.

EAT (Explore Agriculture Tour) took a busload of Clackamas County 4-H and FFA Youth (and a few lucky adult volunteers) on a tour of several Agriculture Sciences facilities on Oregon State University campus today. We visited the Soap Creek Ranch, Oregon State Dairy Center, learned about the Oregon State University Steer-A-Year club, toured the Clark Meat Science Center, sampled student made Beaver Classic ice cream at the on campus creamery, and ended the day with a trip to the Rockin D Ranch in Junction City.

Special thanks to everyone volunteering time to make this happen.

We had a few last minute cancellations and have spots open for this amazing tour. Contact us TODAY (you can message us here) if you would like to get on the bus tomorrow. This opportunity is open to intermediate and senior 4-H members, FFA members, and enrolled 4-H leaders.

The second Annual EAT: Explore Agriculture Tour is open to ALL Intermediate and Senior 4-H (or FFA) members regardless of what projects you are enrolled in. Pre-registration by June 12th is required. Limited to the first 40 registered youth. Seats are going fast!

Travel with Doug Kitchen, Clackamas County 4-H Beef Superintendent, to Oregon State University (Corvallis) and Rock N D Angus Cattle Ranch (Junction City), where we will have a Fun and Educational experience focusing on agriculture, farming, and the dairy industries.

We will visit:
OSU Meat Lab - Find out how meat is graded and more!
OSU Beef Center - Meet the OSU beef herd and students who manage them.
OSU Dairy - See research and education improving and enhancing the safety, quality and functionality of dairy products and processes
OSU Steer a Year Club - Learn about this club and how to be involved.
Rock N D Angus Cattle Ranch – Junction City

8:00 am - bus leaves from Clackamas County Extension Office, Oregon City
5:00 pm - bus arrives back in Oregon City
