Orcutt Union School District’s Convocation 2026 kicked off with unforgettable back-to-school advice from student experts Finnley, Isaac, Ophelia, and Brooklyn! Uniting our OUSD family—representing 650 dedicated teachers, support staff, and administrators—employees heard inspiring messages from Board President Melanie Waffle, OEA President Monique Segura, CSEA President Shirley Juarez, and Superintendent Dr. Holly Edds. Together, we were grounded in a powerful reminder that every child arrives with their own unique story, and helping them thrive takes all of us working as one team. We are ready for an incredible 2026–2027 school year!

Today the Orcutt Union School District officially welcomed on board its new teachers, counselors, and certificated staff. They participated in a district orientation and technology training, then rode a school bus for a tour of the district given by retired OUSD administrator Joe Dana. Great teaching does not just happen. It is built through collaboration, continuous learning, and endless dedication.

This week, Orcutt Union School District educators gathered for workshops to step back into the classroom as learners. Behind the scenes, our teachers are hard at work diving in to curriculum, developing dynamic and hands-on math strategies, and elevating student voice through writing workshops. None of this would be possible without the visionary leadership of our dedicated Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA) who designed and facilitated these sessions.

To our OUSD teachers, we see the energy, focus, and passion you are pouring into this up upcoming year. Thank you for setting the bar high for our students, and thank you to our TOSA team for equipping our teachers for success.

Orcutt Junior High School welcomed incoming 7th and 8th graders at Mustang Round-Up. Students picked up their schedules, grabbed essential materials, and took campus tours so they’re 100% ready for the first day of school.
