🌟 Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Cameo Coleman 🌟

We are excited to spotlight Dr. Cameo Coleman, one of our outstanding adjunct professors in the Family Nurse Practitioner and RN-BSN program at Claflin University!

This October, during National DNP Week (October 19–25, 2025), Dr. Coleman will present:

“Small Town, Big Impact: The Power of Rural Primary Care.”

Her upcoming presentation reflects not only her professional excellence but also her passion for advancing rural health; a mission that aligns closely with our work at Claflin University Nursing. As she prepares FNP students to serve in underserved communities, Dr. Coleman is also helping us shape the future of research and initiatives that address health disparities and strengthen rural primary care.

Why it matters: Rural health is where innovation, access, and equity intersect. Preparing nurse leaders to serve these communities is essential to reducing health disparities and improving outcomes for families who are too often overlooked.

We celebrate Dr. Coleman’s leadership and look forward to her contributions during National DNP Week. Join us in cheering her on as she represents Claflin University on this national stage!

Join us in welcoming Mrs. Zandria Fredrick-Brunson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C!

We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Fredrick-Brunson to the Claflin University Nursing Team as our new full-time Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Faculty and Academic Coordinator!

BIO:

Zandria Fredrick-Brunson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is St. Matthews, SC, and is a Family Nurse Practitioner with experience in urgent care, family practice, palliative care, community health, pediatrics, and cardiology. She began her nursing career in progressive cardiac care before becoming a nurse practitioner in 2019 and has also served as an adjunct nursing instructor.
Mrs. Fredrick-Brunson earned her ADN from Fortis College, her BSN and MSN from Chamberlain University, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of South Carolina. Outside of her professional roles, she is active in her community, supports military families as the spouse of a U.S. Navy Chief, serves as Vice President of the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes Cheer Booster Club, and mentors both future and current nurses.

In the Claflin FNP program, she aims to support, encourage, and challenge students to grow into the best version of themselves as future nurse practitioners.
