Claflin and Benedict Criminal Justice students are touring Greenville P.D.(2019)

Dr. Caroletta Shuler Ivey, Associate Professor, and Corridnator of the Undergrad and Graduate Criminal Justice programs, has been named the Regional Director for Region V-B (South Carolina) of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society at the 66th National Convention! The regional colleges and universities she will represent are Allen University, Benedict College, Claflin University, Morris College, South Carolina State University, and Voorhees College.

Last night the Psychology Club kicked off their “A Day in the Life of…” series with guest speaker, Mr. Carlin Moore, a lawyer with extensive experience in immigration, family immigration, international human rights, asylum, family, and criminal law. Most recently in his role as Associate Counsel with the Department of Veteran Affairs, he works to resolve veterans’ claims of injury and/or disease incurred during active duty. A significant task associated with his job is reviewing medical records, including psychological evaluations for mental health issues, to determine competence and credibility (i.e., forensic psychology-related application). Mr. Moore shared his experiences and answered student questions about his experiences. Check it out!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former First Lady Alice Carson Tisdale. Mrs. Tisdale's extraordinary contributions to Claflin were the manifestation of her unyielding commitment to providing students the essential academic, cultural, and spiritual preparation necessary for their transformation into globally-engaged visionary leaders. Mrs. Tisdale made her peaceful transition on Saturday, July 25, 2020. She was the devoted wife of Dr. Henry N. Tisdale, who served for 25 years as Claflin's eighth president.

“Mrs. Tisdale played a pivotal role and joined her husband, President Emeritus Dr. Henry N. Tisdale in shaping the 25-year success story of Claflin University,” said Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack, president of Claflin University. “Not only did Mrs. Tisdale help strengthen the academic profile of the University through the Honors College, but she also displayed compassion, guidance, and kindness to hundreds of students who passed through the halls of Claflin. We are forever grateful for her visionary leadership.”
