Former JRS student Michael White graciously allowed us to certify his two children, so y'all help us welcome PADI's newest Open Water Divers, Briana and Austin White. These two took to scuba like they were part fish! Michael's other son, Michael Jr. has already been certified. What can we say except the family that dives together, thrives together (quote credit to Jeremy Ginn). Congratulations to Briana, Austin and the entire White family. Happy diving guys!

INCREDIBLE!

Croatian freediver Vitomir Maričić has just set a jaw-dropping Guinness World Record — holding his breath underwater for an unbelievable 29 minutes and 3 seconds. 😱

📍 The attempt took place in a 3-meter-deep pool at the Bristol Hotel in Opatija, Croatia, witnessed by five official judges and about 100 spectators.

🔥 His feat didn’t just beat the old record — it shattered it by nearly five minutes, even surpassing the natural breath-holding abilities of many marine mammals, including bottlenose dolphins and nearly matching harbor seals!

For perspective:
⏱️ The average person can only manage 30–90 seconds.
🏊 Even elite freedivers usually max out at 10–11 minutes without oxygen assistance.

So how did he do it?
Maričić used a technique called denitrogenation — breathing pure oxygen for 10 minutes before the attempt. This process flushes nitrogen from the body and supercharges the blood with nearly five times more oxygen than normal.

✅ While this method is allowed under Guinness rules for oxygen-assisted breath holds, it still demands extraordinary physical and mental control to survive nearly half an hour without a single breath.

👏 A historic dive into human limits of endurance!

Carried by U.S. Navy divers, the cremains of World War II veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor Harvey Milhorn are returned to their final resting place. He is escorted home to the USS Arizona, where he will rejoin his fallen shipmates in the silent waters of the memorial, completing a journey that began more than 80 years ago.🕊️🇺🇸⚓
